Does your car have the twin dizzys as in the picture above? If so, then it is probably the original motor. However, you can look at the block as well.

I am hoping I dont have all that drama. Like I said, in GA they make a cop come out and check your vin for every car being registered. So it will have already been run for stolen check, and the vin number will be certified. I havent tried to get insurance yet. That might suck badly. Here are a couple pics of my motor:

twin distributors confirmed.

Yep, looks like the real deal. Do you have the airbox and air intake runners? Does it run? The airbox should have an air temp sensor in the lower half, driver side that plugs into the harness. This provides input to the fuel injection brain.

Here is a link to pictures of my engine tear-down to replace a failed head gasket. These were for reference during the project, and may be useful to you in getting to know your Euro.

I dont know if the airbox is in the car or not. The car is filled with parts because the last pwner tore the entire interior out for some reason. I do however, have a complete 1980 us car that has hopefully everything I need to finish it. The inside is in rough shape right now. totally pulled apart. It does run and drive however. here are some pics of the interior mess:

like I said, it is pretty rough. All the interior is inside from what I understand.

It reallt doesnt matter since I am swapping the entire interior from my 80 (which just had seats redone last year) into the euro.

I am going to have to pull everything out and sort what is what. I am hoping I will have a close to complete interior to put inside the 1980 us. I plan on selling that car once I have everything I need from it. It also runs, so I should be able to get a grand for it i bet.

I would definitely check every diaphragm in the HVAC system while they are exposed. I would even be tempted to replace all of them regardless, since they are probably all 28 years old, and hard to get to once the interior is done.

very good idea Wally. I figured that since it is all apart, I would first have to figure out what is what.. and what goes where and connected to what, etc. Then start replacing anything that looked worn. I am figuring that I would replace anything I can find that can be replace for an "INEXPENSIVE" cost as well.

just realized... I have no idea how many diaphragms are in the ac system lol. much like my other car, nothing is labeled or attached. Luckily, many of the connectors only fit with one other counterpart. If everything used the same style and size of connector I would have serious issues.

I guess I am fortunate though. since the car is running, none of the stuff that is disconnected can really be "mission critical". I would still like to get as many features up and working properly as possible.

But, as long as I have AC and wipers and everything that serves some sort of primary function, I will be happy. All the other creature comforts are nice, but I can live without them.

The vin is in format WP0zzz92zes840107 not WPOzzz92zes840107

Zero not letter O - try that.

VIN is so early that if engine is still original its almost certainly low CR version.
