Time for new wipers, whats best?

I like the Rainx Latitudes on my domestic cars, but not so sure on the 928's. What are people liking lately? (snow not an issue in SoCal)

I think I have Bosch micro edge on them now, but I am game for new blades if better is out there.

I've notcied in Renlist pics that more and more 928 owners are using the Bosch Icons. Roger has them on his website.

PIAA silicone blades all the way, especially if you have problems with blade judder. You can get them from Amazon, a little bit pricey but worth it.

I use the Rainx Latitudes on my 87S4 and they perform well.

I bought the Latitudes I have now almost two years ago, and the ones on our Lincoln (20 and 24 inch) after cleaning them and the windshield "well" are working fine, 16 inch on Mustang have some chatter until its fairly wet, but I haven't given them or that windshield a good cleaning yet.

Bosch MicroEdge had issues after a few months, but again I haven't given them any attention yet.

Does anybody know what will fit in the original wiper housings? I don't want to change too much from original, just want good refills.
What are the sizes?
Sorry for the hijack.

What sizes are you guys using?

j.kenzie@sbcglobal.net 11-12-2012 01:42 PM

I just used Bosch Icons. 20A on driver, 20B on passenger. They fit the front without any modification. The rear is another story.
Good luck,
Dave

I have never had any luck with any brands except for Bosch in regards to the blades. I use Bosch on all my cars and trucks. From my own experience they seem to last longer than 6 months. Just my 2 cents

The normal size on the fronts are 18". I use 19" Bosch Icons, and I think some people even go as high as 20". As for refills, I tried dicking around with refills one time on a car I had when I was 16. They sort of worked. But to hell with originality, IMO, as my eyes get older, I want a product that works. Icons do the job for me.

19" Latitudes is what i use on the S4.

I'm not sure of names, arm, blade, for a refill, but I think the original was a Bosch MicroEdge which takes a more narrow than normal refill. I've been told the articulated thing that the refill goes into needs replacement from time to time, so big maybe on it being original.

dr bob 11-13-2012 12:40 AM

I still have the original arms and blades. I shop for refills every couple years. Used to be able to find MicroEdge refills locally but the usual sources have pretty much given up on them in favor of full blade replacement. The local Carquest store still has the narrow refills in their own brand. They last three plus years for me, so if they only last two thirds as much so what... MicroEdge refills are available online, with ship costs exceeding refill costs. If they lasted longer on the shelf I'd just get a few sets and toss the extras in the spares bin.

PET part #: 928 628 901 02, which is indeed the Bosch Micro Edge Excel wiper blade. Cost around 21 EUR per piece in Europe.
Several weeks ago I updated them for Bosch aero twin 20" AR20U on the front, and a Bosch aero twin 24" AR24U for the back (as I was not able to find Bosch Icon wiper blades, but these are almost the same), and I like them a lot - they work very well, good improvement over the originals.
For more info and pictures on how to install that rear wiper see: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-blades-4.html and posts #51 and #60.
