Default 17" Forgeline wheels from Devek??

My current racer came with a set of 17" forgeline wheels originally supplied by Devek..... I think they are 17x9.5" front and 17x11" rear with 8" backspacing front and rear.....

Does anyone have exact specs for these wheels? I know they allow VERY wide tires with minimal fender rolling.....I had 295/35-17 fronts and 315/35-17 rears with nearly zero rubbing....

Here are a couple pics......and a rear tire comparo with my old estate on 275's

The old Devek catalog does not show offset. If you can give me the overall width from outside lip to inside lip(should be 1" more than the listed rim width) as well as the measurement from the flat face of the center of the wheel where it meets the hub of the car to the inside lip, it is very easy to figure.

Brian,

I believe these may be the same type of wheels Mark K used to run on his red racer- maybe he can advise you.

I seem to remember they may have had a front wheel offset of about 75mm for some reason but not sure on that one. I also seem to remember that the base Forgeline wheels Devek offered were a two piece construction?

Regards

Fred

yep, 8" backspacing front and rear and the rim diameter was 17" width was 9.5" front and 11" rear.
those were the exact same wheels i think. the black '79 race car has them now, wherever that car is now.

Those ARE the Two-piece RS from Forgeline. It was a really good simple strong wheel. No idea the offsets that Devek specified though.

no, those are single piece forglines.
again, you can calulate the offsets, but they are 8" backspacing on both front and rear. 9.5, and 11" width.

they look like them from the perspective of 5 spoke, polished finish, and single piece, but the simularities end there.

I'm gonna go with Forgeline on this one. They always called them a two piece. Which they were, and those are. Just because they don't have bolts doesn't mean they aren't WELDED.

Maybe try google sometime before you tell people they're incorrect.

oh, i know about the bolts and welding first hand! there are true two piece wheels that have bolts that hold centers on a machined rim . then there are 3 piece that have centers, (usually forged) and two piece outers.

Yes, there are even single piece CnC machined wheels, which these are not. So, i guess they can be though of as two piece ,even though they are welded. forged center welded onto the outers

I thought you were talking about a true 2 piece wheel, but my main point is that they are not that similar to the forgeline wheel of the day. yes, they both have 5 spoke and they both are welded.

YOU also said they "were forgeline RS wheels" which they are NOT!

these are RS wheels.

maybe you shoud OWN the wheels before you try to correct someone correcting you! (and you can try google too you know!! )

Mark,

If my arithmetic is correct 8 inch back spacing on a 9.5 inch wheel indictes an offset of 82mm- is that correct? Sounds kinda wild in that the lock must have been somewhat restrictive.

No problem for a track car I dare say. For some reason I thought they were 75mm- perhaps another wheel set design.
