Awesome. That has pretty much everything.

I remember now coming across Chris' page, but didn't really pay much attention as it was S4-up.

Good thing it doesn't rain in Oregon.

Might get a little leakage at the misrouted LH/EZ harness grommet.

I guess the S4 washer pump was moved to the fender?

This space has intriqued me for some time.
The coolant tank can go wherever, but this space...
Note the relief for RHD brake booster in the fender wall.

You are new here...

Oh sure, anywhere that is above the top of the engine block, not occupied by something else, and accessible for checking/filling. There is always stuff looking for space, what have you got in mind?

This one doesn't have an intensive wiper tank.
Suppose the coolant tank could go there.

The big empty space has good access to the MAF.
One thing that struck me is a route for a mid/rear turbo duct.

I dunno. It just looks like something should go there.

Whew.. hard to get my head around that space in the engine bay.. its all on the wrong side

Did your coolant reservoir crumble into non-existence? That's definitely where it should be.

perhaps you'll find this page useful?

http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/underthe.htm

5th picture down shows that location.

Your intensive washer reservoir should be behind the firewall by the wiper motor?

That's funny. I just looked.

It does have an intensive washer tank.

It has a new cover that wasn't cut out for the filler.

I have a new coolant tank to go in...after I reroute the LH/EZ harness, and seat the grommet.

Since it's easy to get to, I'll probably connect the vapor recovery line to the bumper outlet line.
Start deleting, yay!

OMG! LH2.3 and EZK are sooooo much easier to work with!

8052 (fancy 8051) processors mean I can load up the BINs in proper coding software, instead of notepad.
Automatically generated variables, functions, subroutines...oh my!

The files are only about twice the the size of the S3, including triple maps for coding.
(A more robust 8051 instruction set vs. 8039, means less code.)
Endless code and map space...serial ports...

In a couple of hours, I was able to get aquainted with IDA Pro; disassembled both LH and EZ BINs.
Then I pulled up the 3 cruise maps in Tunerpro, and traced the code which reads them.

Note the dips for max torque at 3000 and 4000.

1) The best WWW pages were done in Notepad back in the day.
2) Does this mean..less than a year?

Keep in mind that the S4 has a base map and an adj map.
The ST only lets you adjust the adjustment maps....

I'll probably be able to adjust the main maps before my S4 is running.

If the Ostrich 2.0 (EPROM emulator) works properly on these 28 pin sockets (didn't work well on 24 pin LH2.2, kinda worked on EZF), then I could be tuning both computers realtime in weeks.

Actually understanding the code will take time, but it will be easily less than a year.

Hey guys.. I posted some over the weekend when I joined, but didnt make a proper introduction.

My name is Dennis and I live in Lake Park, Georgia. I am fairly close to the Florida border. I am a fairly decent mechanic, and have built a 2000 mustang gt that I take to the race track in south Georgia. It is essentially a street "legal" drag car.

I am 43 years old and have owned various Porsches in my life. The 928 is the one I have always wanted. To me it is one of the most beautiful cars ever designed.
I was browsing cars on ebay recently, and came across a 928 "project car". I ended up buying it for 1200 dollars. It is a 1980 US model. It needs some body work, paint, and has some electrical issues. Additionally, at the moment it turns over it does not start or run on anything but carb cleaner.

I have already been posting a ton of questions, trying to take advantage of the knowledge of senior members. I apologize if I ask too many questions, or seem to be a little frantic about the car. I am just very happy to have one, and would like to see it returned to its full glory.

thanks,

Dennis

Dennis - welcome!

You may want to start a new thread, though. Your post may get lost in this bloated one.

Maybe I don't understand it enough yet, but I think it is the opposite?

You edit the base maps, but the LH generates an adjustment map (overlay?), in RAM, using O2 sensor feedback, AFAIK.
(I'll have to figure out have to disable this temporarily.)

I should start a thread on the disassembly...

Standard ST only accesses the adjustment maps, which is usually perfectly adequate. For Alpha - N we do allow access to the main fuel map.
