I think parts may have been repainted or touched up. I got a note from Ed MD stating that he had the front side markers removed by his body guy. I assume that means some painting, but honestly it needs a bath and a coat of wax. Then I think we will be able to see if there are any paint issues. But yes... it does look good. Certainly better than my GT.

Very nice!! I wish I could get my son and daughter to help me change the oil much less rebuild the engine! Looks like its gonna be a lot of fun

Very cool Andrew! Make sure you show him the difference from a "regular" 928, and the monsters y'all have roaming around up there. I'm not so sure I'd believe you if you said he's ever been in a N/A 928!
Not that there is anything wrong with that!

Andrew, congrats on the awesome new car.
All, I think this is a very well conceived plan by AO ... project car with the family. I like the concept, just don't tell the kids that most DE's and track events require drivers to be 21 years old. Not sure about those parking lots with cones in them.
We need to schedule a beer night close to your place (Shark Club) so the locals take a look at this beast.
Let me know if you need my engine stand and engine hoist.

Mark,
I think I left you out of my OP. I wanted to dedicate an entire paragraph to just thanking you! Without your rig, I would not have been able to get this thing up here. So a big thank you to you!
Yeah... I won't mention anything to the kids about the DE events. maybe they will have to come down to SITM and drive those crazy twisty roads we take down there!
Will let you know on the hoist and stand if We need it. Gonna try sharktuning it on Sunday to see if that will help it at all. Come on by if you want.

Congrats on a NICE car....
Honestly I don't think it will be that much of a project.....sure you gotta pull the engine and tear it down, hopefully it just needs new rings and there isn't serious scoring in the cylinder walls....if so its a pretty easy repair....One thing I would do is NOT use Porsche rings again...... John Kuhn told me that the factory 16V rings were "fragile" when ran under boost and he thought other rings would work better....he liked Total Seal rings....same as Carl uses in his motors

Congratulations Andrew! Should be a great and fun project. Anything you can do with your kids becomes great memories, sometimes the best memories.

Got to spend some time with the car this weekend. 1st order was to wash it up a bit.
Then, hanks to Eric M for loaning me his STer MK1. It took a little doing... First I couldn't get my serial to USB adapter to work, so then I dug up an old laptop with a serial port. After getting windows to do a million updates, I then realized that the software I had was for the STer MK2. Thanks to Jim Corenman for sending over the latest version, and to Eric for zipping and emailing the SW. Turns out v5.0.10 is the ticket!
So I finally had a pc connected to the STer and was ready to try tuning. Turn the key... Battery was dead. Break out the charger and run some errands...
Tried to start it, but it wouldn't start. Call the boy out to help me see if we have spark. Sow him how we can use an old spark plug to check. He cranks the car, we have spark. Re check the STer, and find I have a loose connection. Fix that... Vroom!. It starts. Woo Hoo! It will idle just fine, but goes super lean when you give it any gas then dies.
Trivia fact: it appears there is no "idle map" for an 85 euro. Didnt know.
I tried adding fuel but it just wasnt enough. So I played with injector size, latency, all to no avail. Then I remember DR saying the Fuel pressure was a bit low. yep... 30psi. This thing has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on it. Get the boy over to help me crank it up. We get it up to about 45-50 psi. Now it seems to do a better job off idle. Unfortunately by this time, it was now time for dinner and time to pack it in for the day, but I am encouraged that it appears we are on the right track.
I picked up a leak down tester so wean look at cyl #7, but want to see if we can get it to runn a bit before we go there.
