Default Preliminary Route

Laura and I are headed to Marble Falls tomorrow to check out the entire route, and also scope out our winery and lunch place. I have replaced one of the winery stops with a stop in Luckenbach. However, depending how long we hang out in Luckenbach, there are about 5 winerys a few miles away along Hwy 290 if we would like to keep the second winery in the drive. We can play it by ear.

I have changed the route up a little this year. I think the route is going to flow really well. We will have about 93 or so miles before lunch, and about 87 miles after lunch.

This doesn't sound like a lot of miles, but with four or five stops in between, it should work out nicely and should get us back to the hotel around 4pm or so. Plenty of time to relax and clean up for the dinner that night.

We are taking the BMW instead of my truck so we can carve up the roads a little!

Does that mean your leading the tour this year? I want to be the #2 car then!

All this talk about midnite muffins and chili makes me realize I need to get Sunday off from work!

And I want #2 car, too! Jim, paper/rock/scissors on Saturday AM to decide?

I don't mind leading at all. I really think we might be able to do this in only two groups this year. I will have very good map and set of instructions for everybody. If you get behind you should be able to follow the map to our next stop.

I think the drive is going to be really good. I changed it slightly from the above map, mainly becase the loop near Wimberly was just to crowded with other cars. But the rest of the loop was just desolate, open range with very few cars. Other than Wimberly, I might have passed three cars all day. And I was on the road a couple of hours later than we will be.

Laura clocked the exact miles to every turn, so if your ODO works, you can just reset at every stop/major road change, and have a good idea when the turns are coming up, or if your behind, when you have gone to far and need to turn around. Thinking about it, nevermind. Half of the ODO's on 928's are broken, and the other half don't have the right size tires on anymore LOL.

We are eating in Blanco. Laura and I had lunch there yesterday, and the food is the best yet in my opinion. We have the entire back room resereved.

See everybody in 12 more days!!!!

My schedule has changed and I'm able to attend 3rd Coast. I'd like to meet the group out of Denton (ie Roger, Zane, Jim, Sean & Malcolm) at Home Depot on Friday and drive to Marble Falls.

Andy, et all. The past several years we have all met at the Home Depot parking lot on the service road just south of Sycamore School Rd. There is a Jack-In-the-Box in the front part of the parking lot. A good place for that last snack before we hit the road. 7960 South Fwy. Ft Worth, TX 76134. Meet at 10:00 for a 10:15 departure. Come with a full tank of gas and your FRS radios.

Malcome your our guest of honor. No worries on your part. We have never left an owner or driver of a 928 behind and don't plan to start now. The northern guys will pick you up and lead you to the departure destination. We will also have spare FRS radios. Some of the guys will be from the east, the west and north and some may meet us along the way from the south.
