You bet I solved it. I sold the damn thing!
But not before figuring out the problem. Turned out the problem was very simple to diagnose and I'm not sure how I could have missed it. There was zero compression in the #7 cylinder. I had checked compression before but all I can think is that I skipped that cylinder. I put compressed air into the cylinder through the spark plug whole when that cylinder was at tdc and air flowed right out the intake runner. I thought a stuck valve so removed the cams and it was the front most valve that wasn't seating. I chalked it up to carbon preventing a seal. I have enough projects and limited space so I just sold it as is. If it were a manual trans I would have pulled the head and fixed. With as many years as this car sat it was not surprising. But I kicked myself for weeks for missing something as simple as a compression check. Good luck with yours.
