my, how time flies.
I have had my '89GT for 21+ years. That is the longest I have ever owned a car and nearly the longest I have done anything except live my life.
I did some wrenching on it the other day to fix a small coolant leak. Otherwise it runs like a top and pulls like a locomotive. (Knock wood!).
I don't see myself ever parting with this car. I have several other "things" I like, but the top two are my '98 Fat Boy and the '89 shark.
I bought "Gretch" when she had 10k on the clock, in '92. I semi retired her from DD when I purchased a 2000 C4. The C4 now has a buck twenty six on the clock and just went in for what seems to be an IMS issue.
Gretch has come out of semi retirement and is my "nice day" DD. I am loving it.
Made me wonder how many other Rennys have had a multi-decade love affair with their 928???

Awesome Gretch. Now you need to get it out and bring it down south for a nice long drive.

1989 S4 bought in 1996 with 24K miles from first owner and now currently at 98K miles.
Just bought 91 GT with 24K miles from second owner and will start the love affair all over again. Sadly will put my 89 up for sale probably next week. It has been a great car, an hopefully it will go to a good home.

Congrats, Gretch and glad to hear it's your DD again.
I'm only 3 years into the second decade with 172K miles of my own on the original 72K. I think it is the longest car ownership for me too and I don't anticipate it ending soon. I've had a couple of motorcycles far longer (Norton for 37 years; Honda for 21), but they are low mileage garage queens compared to the 89 S4.

13 years this November, purchased it with 47,000 kms and now 106,000 kms (80k miles approximately). Is my "twisty bit" and long distance cruiser. Like Bill I have a motorcycle 38 years old with 3,470 kms. Need to start the motorcycle again soon.
Congratulations Gretch.

Like so many I will have 16 years with my '88 S4 this Dec! Been a WONDERFUL love affair to say the least! So good in fact I keep adding more to the collection. I got my S4 from the original owner with less than 60k miles on it IIRC and it has about 90k miles on it now! LOVE IT!

More pickies of the old gal.
It has been a lot of fun, for sure.

beautiful car Gretch - did I see that picture right - nothing past the X-pipe underneath? Must sound like a monster! (mine is very loud too - I look for tunnels and downshift frequently)

Jim Page - local 928 guru - still has the invoice for the first 928 he worked on back in 1984, clutch job. Last time he checked, that 928 is still with the same owner.
He bought his first 928 shortly after, and is the 79 I now own.

I got my first in 89 as an irresponsible youngster. I just had to have a 4 valve V8!
There was a magazine article around that time about the 89 GT that made an impression on me. It made it sound like a veritable race car!
