my, how time flies.
I have had my '89GT for 21+ years. That is the longest I have ever owned a car and nearly the longest I have done anything except live my life.
I did some wrenching on it the other day to fix a small coolant leak. Otherwise it runs like a top and pulls like a locomotive. (Knock wood!).
I don't see myself ever parting with this car. I have several other "things" I like, but the top two are my '98 Fat Boy and the '89 shark.
I bought "Gretch" when she had 10k on the clock, in '92. I semi retired her from DD when I purchased a 2000 C4. The C4 now has a buck twenty six on the clock and just went in for what seems to be an IMS issue.
Gretch has come out of semi retirement and is my "nice day" DD. I am loving it.
Made me wonder how many other Rennys have had a multi-decade love affair with their 928???

I've had my '82 5 spd for 19 years now. Bought it from the original owner with 42k miles - now right at 150k.
I've had my '89 5 spd for 11 months and 1 day.
Both are "keepers."

I bought my first Strosek car in 1986. The car was almost new (7800km) and extremely expensive in those days. The car is still in my garage and has only 78300km on the meter. I have kept it well in top condition, never drives it at wintertime. In those days it was one of the fastest cars you could buy, not so today I am afraid.

Forgot to tell you this is one of the very first Strosek cars, probably the first imported to Sweden. It is a private import from Germany. The first owner had ordered a Ferrari Testarossa that is why he wanted to sell the Porsche.

I took that picture during installation of DR's X pipe. It also has DR's RMB so it does let one know it is coming down the road. the X pipe, Hi flow cats, resonators and RMB......
The cats ARE the mufflers.
I would like to see a picture of that Strosek's engine bay! Nice looking car.

Very beautiful Car Gretch. I wonder if there are women out there that get so attached to their cars like some of us men folk do. I got my first 928 in 1981 (a 1977 model) and after 4 iterations I hit the jackpot in 2000 when my friend decided to sell this Koenig to buy an F360. My wife used to drive an older Benz 450SL and after a while could not wait to get rid of it. My car is 23 years old and it puts a smile on my face everytime I start it up. It has become part of the family the same way a pet becomes.

Picked up the 90GT back in 1998 with 18K miles.
The 80 EuroS was purchased in 2001 with a blown motor and 62K miles. Went from a street driven track car to the dedicated track car.

..., 21 years next Easter for me, it,s a strange thought, but the odd time mine goes to the shop for work, I look in the garage and it,s empty, the sort of feeling you get when a family member is away ????

Got my '91 eleven years ago in May for $19,000 with 90K on the clock and I've easily spent that much again over the years. It now has a 145K on it and it's old enough to drink legally in all 50 states but she still is my fave. I've had my heart broken and my wallet emptied countless times but I just keep sinking more into it each year. It is truly the poster child of being (when I'm done upgrading it) $15,000 away from being a $10,000 car but I have not found anything else that I'd rather have, short of an Aston Martin DB9......that I can afford, anyhow!

Timely thread...ten years this month for the 89GT....
Almost five years for the 82 track car (can't believe it)..
14 years of owning 928's (first was the 84 back in 98)

water pump, not IMS bearing.
Whew.
still gonna drive the shark for the summer.
Murphy has some "updates" that sound mighty tempting....... damn, this disease never goes away. sounds like an intake refresh this fall...... yup it is a sickness.......

I've had my 86.5 so long that I've fixed the odometer gear and need to fix it again 10 years later. I've also had a non-stainless RMB rust completely through.
I've had it 17 years, and it feels really weird to have owned a car that long. So many memories, and it's held up so well, in almost the same shape as it was when I got it with 36k miles on the clock. It's like a member of the family, and will be handed down like a family heirloom.
