Default Another new to me/ used shark!

Bought another one.

1980, 4.5, auto.
No sunroof, was originally a brown car, now black with purple pinstripe. Interior is a disaster area. Engine runs good cept for a broken starter, trans shifts well. Newer front rotors, needs shocks, lights all working... pretty good shape overall. Body is in great shape overall few dings n bruises nothing serious.

Paid $400...

Gonna do some minor cleanup and repair work, and put her on the road as a daily fixing problems as I go. Once the other 928 is painted and done, I'll tear into this one and make some modifications. Found a good 5 speed drive train in the salvage yard the other day, car was burned to a crisp but had good mechanicals.

Gonna drag it to the shop tomorrow! Happy Fathers Day!

Man, that interior is trashed... You can buy those $300 vinyl seat kits on ebay and install them easy enough though! That would go a VERY LONG WAY to fixing the interior issues!

Yeah, the weird thing is the back seats are fine... how the fronts got so destroyed is ???? The good thing is that I have about 4 of everything for the interior! Not all the same color... but good enough to put it back to useful condition and drive it!

Cause it's driving season... and I'm missing out on all the driving...

Honestly with the seats... a pair of black seat covers from walmart for a coupla months should work! Sad thing is these seats are in better condition than my other car...

Hah, and the windshield isn't even cracked on this car!

It was headed to the crusher monday...

Now it's headed to the dmv, for temp tags...

Im gonna change all the fluids, new spark plugs, new green wire, belts, new fuel, check fuses n relays. Flush the tranny, flush the brakes, put on my porsche sport design wheels, new battery, new engine mounts, check fuel lines, vaccuum lines.

Give it a bath, vaccum, and powerwash the engine bay, then drive it. It isn't perfect but I'm tired of wrenching on the other one, and not getting any satisfaction out of driving it cause it's being restored!

That car would SO follow me home for $400. Ballsy committment, but I can dig the wrench-on-one-drive-the-other thing. You need the driving for inspiration.

Good save, man

Yeah, how much do you want for a used one?? I'm pretty sure the one it has doesn't work anymore after bouncing down the roadway at 80mph!

I bought a Euro spec Mercedes Benz 560SEC some time ago. I really should have passed on this car but as it was a Euro spec, I had to have it. In any case, the interior was trashed and I could tell why as the guy who was driving it wore only tank tops or no shirt and all that sweat quickly trashed the seats. Fortunately, I was able to find used ones which saved the day.

I'd love to find a and save a euro spec mercedes or bmw... that'd be interesting... spendy but fun!

I wonder how close the vin #'s are on these two cars.

I had two 86 vw jetta gl's with nearly identical vins, they were only a couple cars apart from each other on the assembly line in Germany.

If you're used to buying Porsche parts and working on Porsche, you could quite easily take a Mercedes in your stride. Mechanical parts are generally very cheap (American car cheap) and they are pretty simple to work on up to the mid 90's.

This project kind of reminds me of my 84 Euro 500SL, I pulled it out of field where it sat for ten years. The interior was in similar shape after a racoon climbed in and could not get back out.

I fixed this car up on a shoe string.
