Default Color Suggestions?

I picked the color for the other 928 so the wife wants to pick a color for this car! Any suggestions? I wanna keep it a porsche color, and she's set on a blue, green or brown color??

This is future planning, cause I'm drivin this one. Starting monday/tuesday!!!

When it gets painted, it'll get the 5 speed swap... that I have sitting in the shop.

I fixed this car up on a shoe string.

That is a very nice save. That car looks great. The wheels and the buffing definitely did some justice. I love those wheels, are they 3 piece amg? I've always wanted a mercedes... A 500sl, or an amg car.

I'm pretty accustomed to European vehicle parts pricing... Between vw's, volvo's and porsches. That's good to hear that's the prices are "digestable"...

The wife is gonna strangle me if I drag home another damn car! I had to agree not to dismantle this one, until I finish the other 928! She wants to drive the arena red 928, cause its an automatic... So I guess I can share! I better not see it parked in the front row anywhere stuffed between two beaters!

Yep, those are AMG 3 piece. I got them from my neighbor who runs a tire shop. He took them in as trade for a new set of wheels.

Really, all that it needed to pass inspection was to drain the tank, replace the fuel pump filters and line. Put a new muffler on it and a set of shocks.

Tires, wheels, paint, a used seats and a used soft top assembly bought it to its current condition.

How does one shatter the inspection cover... the starter was still dangling from its wiring... with the part of the inspection cover attached??? When the tow dropped it at the po's home 4 months ago... they pushed itbackwards tearing up the alternator as well.... gonna get it up on jacks tom n take pics.

Default updates...

So got her up in the air today... Here's what I found...

Lower inspection cover broken... starter appears to be fine aside from some road rash... Gonna take it to autozone n get it and the alternator tested for free!!

Apparently the previous owners were unable to tighten the alternator properly due to someone stripping out the bolt holes at the base of the block.

It's looks as though some of the bolts worked themselves loose... from vibration...

The upper rear powersteering bracket is broken clean off... I removed the other end so as to weld them back together...

A look into the bellhousing... tells a different story.... It looks as though the Torque Tube bearing got loose and spun around... not sure here... Somebody with more expertise help me out here!!!

These were jammed into the flywheel.... and looks like what did the banging around that the po was complaining about... I would imagine one of them got caught between the started and the flywheel while the engine was running and that's how the inspection cover got broken...

So there's the damage report... Any help with telling me what is up with that bearing?? I'm thinking time to rebuild the TT but... not experienced with that or how it got that loose...

PowerSteering leaks from both ends profusely...

A/C goodies are all there.

Filthy but complete

No blown fuses...

What is this???? It's dangling by the fuse block?

Decent Stereo!!

Timing Belt is Shot... Go figure

So far everything is according to plan for a $400 car! I wasn't planning on replacing the alternator... It and the starter tested bad... But I have a spare of each, cs130 alternator/pigtail, and starter, lower inspection cover.

Everything... except the possibility of needing to tear out the tranny to get the torque tube fixed.... argggh...

But if that is the case... the car is going to become a 5 speed and I'll have 2 good spare auto trannies in storage.

Got the powersteering bracket repaired already, dug out the spare starter, and alternator, gotta modify the alternator bracket a hairball...

Got the hood to open/close nicely finally... little oil goes a long way...

Got the doors to stop squeeling...

I've had the hatch open exactly three times... Now it's stuck shut??? what the? It won't open at all, push, lift, use key at the same time... nothing works now... sprayed wd40 in it... we'll see if that helps... seems to just need some grease/oil... But I can't get it to re-open! Suggestions!

Default Ah...

Drained radiator, n fluids.

Stripped the motor, and prepped to pull it. Motor mounts need replaced. Gonna replace with updated new mounts and crossmember, replace vaccum tubing, and miscellaneous rotted rubber bits, repair the TT, and while the motor is out, gonna drill the stripped mounting holes for the alternator, and re-thread. This always takes longer than planned!

You should have a motor pulling party have some extra hands help out make the day go that much better. Some pizza and beer at the end have a great day with friends and get a dirty job done also.

Well progress is slower than planned... but. The interior cleaned up pretty nicely after being wiped down, vaccummed, scrubbed and minor repairs.

Trans and rearend completely removed for the conversion.

Torque tube only had two bearings and 1 retainer... i have pics, the auto bellhousing is pretty thrashed, flywheel trashed. TT looks rebuildable as a spare for my arena red 80 auto.

So i am going to remove the tranny cooler lines under the car, drill out the shifter quadrant. Remove the motor/ brake booster to spot weld the clutch master mount.

I still need to post pics individually of my 5 speed parts, to verify their condition before installation.

Default Disassembly pics...

This is all the was inside of the 3 speed TT... pretty sure that's not right!!

Repaired Armrests on the car, with new ones I found in the junkyard last May!!

Cleaned the interior of all of its trash, vaccumed, scrubbed, and wiped down the remnants of leather..

Passenger side rear seat... both rears in good shape.

Previous owner had purchased a new Napa Battery in 2010 and left the receipt in the battery tray, so I was able to take it down to Napa, with my discount, and got a brand new battery with exchange for $45!!

I also found a check for $475 inside the car! Wish it had been cash!

There it is in my little shop... Gotta start somewhere. The soon to be Arena red car is sitting back there next to the project truck as well ready for paint...

So far... costs
$400 car
$100 Tow
$220.02 parts
+ new maintenance pieces I haven't purchased yet, and seat covers!

Need more hands! And a bigger wallet!
