Were they using monopoly money? I am surprised those cars would even be offered there. Put some of the group here in the first few rows of that auction and any 928 would be knocked down to "10 K away from a 5 K car" in minutes.

The 928's with that low of miles and in that condition don't make it to auction. Didn't a low mileage GTS sell for north of $90K recently?

Nut sure on the final price but that is the general ballpark. That 928 didn't have the super low mileage of the cars in this auction either.

It's hard for anyone who does not closely follow the collector car market to understand why cars such as these command “above market” prices.

Mileage / condition aside, there is no equivalent in the 928 world to the 968 and 951 Cup car in that auction.

These are part of the Drendel collection. This was a very publicized and anticipated auction. Seinfeld picked up 917/30-004 at this auction for $4+ million.
