Last time I did, mice got into the interior of my 65 GTO and destroyed the headliner within two days...I do all the work needed outside in my driveway. I have the electric, air tools etc...
I am 68.1 miles south of you.. according to Google maps. 1 hour 21 minutes in my Mazda .. How long in the 928 without tickets.. dunno

I used to have a 66 GTO, but got married and let her go.

Glad to see you had a productive day and got her fired up..

Congrats!!

Congratulations on your car. Please use search and read the posts on why you shouldn't be using a K & N air filter. Short version: It can damage your MAF.

Good Luck!

Default Fuel tank cleaning

I was having problems with an '87. I finished it by taking the tank out. There's a tarry sludge that builds up in the bottom. It will melt in the sun, and dissolve in soapy water. Mine had a "plug" build up in the 10 mm return line to the fuel tank. I used some "Crud buster" soap and pressure washed it and all the crap was cleaned out. Don't know what it is that creates this sludge, but it was from the fuel, wasn't sugar, wasn't wanted.

Old fuel lines and new fuel additives have killed more than one fuel pump. On our cars it's a good idea to take a good look in the tank when changing out the intake pump or strainer to see what's in there. And it's easy to due thanks to Porsche engineering.

Changed the fuel hoses with Roger's kit.

Checked for fuel leaks (none)

Rewired all the affected wires from minor fire.

Re-installed the center console.

Found a few more ground points, cleaned their connections/contacts.

Changed out all the fuses with fresh one's.

Cleaned the throttle body.

Checked for spark.

Installed new K&N air filter.

Cleaned motor & undercarriage with "Engine Brite Gel".

Fixed the sunroof, which did not work when I bought the car. Works great now!

Cranked her over and she started right up, stronger than ever! She lives!!!!

What a great day...
I’m just curious, because I have similar issues as you laid out in your original post, which of all of those things that you did actually brought your car back to life? Please let me know, and thanks in advance!

Guy sold the car in 2012, hasn't posted since 2013.

Might need to phone him.
