Parting a '91 GT--transmission price and info added

I am parting out pieces of a '91 GT with about 75K miles. It is a flood car, and much of the car is beyond what I would consider salvageable. I bought this car planning to use the drivetrain on a project. However, after I bought the '03 Esprit, I decided to scale back my 928 projects, so I will be selling some of the parts from this car:

Cams: Sold. These cams have minor pitting on some of the lobes. Below are pictures of the cam lobes that have pitting. It's common on GTs, but opinions vary. If these don't sell, I will keep them and have them reground.

Heads: Sold.

Transmission: $2600 + shipping complete or $2200 + shipping without the PSD.

Also available are all the suspension and body parts. I'll list parts and prices once I've finished disassembling the car.

Finally, the chassis is available for free if anyone wants it. Otherwise, it will be heading to the salvage yard in a couple of weeks.

Hi,
Due to the history of the car, I will not be selling any electronics / cables / connectors.

Regards,
Gary

Speedtoys 05-14-2012 02:44 AM

Tail light plugs...really?

Ooook.

EspritS4s 05-14-2012 02:55 AM

Do you really want wiring harnesses from a flood car??? No, I will not be selling anything electronics related from this car. Some of those parts might be good, but I'm not willing to stand behind them, so they are going to the scrap yard.

dfrhodes 05-14-2012 03:49 AM

was it completely submerged? If so, does that mean you would sell seats minus the motors?

if you could confirm interior colors as well..looks like black/black? i'll assume you ditched the carpets of course. thanks

d

i'm also looking for speaker grill rings large or small.

EspritS4s 05-14-2012 03:52 AM

Hi,
I'm sorry, but the car sat afterwards, and the interior is in poor shape. I will only be selling engine, suspension, and body parts that show no ill effects from being flooded.

Regards,
Gary

Have a front spoiler and/or belly pan?

Tom in Austin 05-14-2012 10:19 AM

How about the (pastic) coin holder on driver's door panel ... shouldn't have been harmed by the immersion ...

SeanR 05-14-2012 10:26 AM

What color was that?

123quattro 05-14-2012 11:36 AM

How are the headlights? I would be interested in those if they are ok.

I have the headlights, and they are intact, but the lower half of the reflectors are dirty/discolored. I wouldn't put them on one of my cars, but I don't know if they are salvageable or not.

What about the tailight lenses? I am looking for driver side rear. I don't need the harness. I could also use the bottom door skirts. I already have the chassis mouldings, just missing the doors.

Tom,
I just checked, and the coin holder is damaged (a chunk of plastic is missing).

Hi, I'm keeping the taillights as backups for my car. As for the skirts, I would prefer to sell them as a complete set (I hear they are worth big bucks ;)), but I would sell the door pieces if there is no interest in the set. This assumes I can remove them without damaging them.

Ya..im pretty sure that _tail light_ plugs are sufficiently not self aware, like other relay or component related electronics, to care how much water they had in them for a short time.

Im not asking for anythings that makes decisions, or with moving parts.

Driver's side power door lock motor assembly?

Jon B. 05-16-2012 05:26 PM

I would be interested in the shift knob and boot, don't care about the color, just as long as it can be recovered and installed fine. It's the correct "GTS" style I'm assuming? Hard to see on my phone.

Also, I'm in need of the passenger mirror glass. I don't need the housing, but if that's easier and not much more expensive so be it. Lastly, the drivers outside door handle assembly. Mine is on its last legs.

ROG100 05-16-2012 10:30 PM

I would be interested in the block to oil cooler hoses and the oil cooler under the rad?

Two words: Go Greyhound.

Seriously, I had two sport seats shipped halfway across the country for about $200. They were packed in thick walled boxes lowered over a wooden base to which the seats were mounted. They arrived without a scratch. If packed properly, it can be done safely and relatively inexpensive. Scariest part was picking them up at the bus station. :)

The visors are black vinyl and are OK I believe. If I can locate the second one, I'll take pictures and post.

Hey Gary,
I need one of the harness connectors (just the plastic part) that connects to the pod as one of my clicps broke and it dose not stay firmly connected.
If you cut 2 or 3 off and throw them in a CD mail pack ILL give ya $20
But I could also use the cluster as well because some of the plastic has worped.
would you be willing to send the cluster and connectors for a price?
maybe the face is less scratched then mine as well. $100 for it all.

Brad

Brad,
Here are two pictures of the cluster (I took them last night without cleaning the cluster up first). It looks to be in reasonable shape except for a spot under the battery gauge where it looks like a small spot has peeled (and the gas gauge needle is off). The connectors and the cluster are yours if you want them.

EspritS4s 05-18-2012 01:08 AM

So, I pulled the top cover and differential end cover from the transmission tonight. The internals appear to be in very good shape. The drive shaft turns easily, so I was able to inspect all the gears visible from the top, and I saw no signs of wear. The gears look brand new. Same with the view from the end into the differential.

If anyone is interested in buying the complete transmission, I will sell the complete transmission for $2600 or without the PSD for $2200 (plus shipping). The transmission will be sold as is, so the buyer probably shouldn't expect to just fill it with fluid and go. Personally, I would want someone knowledgeable to go through it if I was going to install it in my car. I am happy to take any pictures requested and to disassemble the transmission as far is necessary to get reasonable information requested. However, I am not a transmission builder (and don't play one on TV), so I will not be reassembling the transmission. Anything I disassemble stays that way for the next owner.

If there is no interest in the complete transmission, I will list prices for the individual components once I begin to disassemble it.

No, I do not have the torque tube to sell. PSD is the electronic limited slip differential fitted on '90+ cars.

Hey Gary, I know this is a pretty small item ... the cover is missing off my power seat relay (looks like this photo). This thing mounts on a bracket just atop the ABS controller in driver's footwell. Can I have your bad one for the cover?

Bilal928S4 05-22-2012 02:15 PM

Gary,
I know you are not selling any electronic parts. I have a 91 GTalso and the seat connector is broken. It iis the plastic piece that holds the pins together on the seat side. Can I have that x 2.
Thanks

Ryan,
Here are a few pictures of the internals of the transmission. The pictures aren't great, and I've made no attempt to clean the internals. This is how it looked when I opened it. The two pictures of the gears are with the internals rotated to show different sections of the gears. It's hard to tell from the pics, but the gears are in perfect condition.
