How many are "track only"? Can't be driven on public roads.

That's a tricky question and will depend on local / state DOT laws.

Technically the only 928's that cannot be legally driven on the street are those with junk / salvage titles. Unless you are a dealer.

In Wisconsin you can register a full out race car as long as it has a clean or salvage title. You won't get hassled for not having headlights unless driving at night, all race cars have brake lights so that's not an issue. No annual inspection or emission testing either.

If you really stretch it, any car without full DOT headlights, seat-belts, windshield wipers etc.. are illegal on the street. That would rule out most hot rods and replica / kit cars and all gray market 928's that are not properly federalized.

its a road car he does run what you brung with in the uk. i suppose its the quarter mile equivalent of a track day because you dont need a race licence. i used to do it in a old 965 turbo, but couldnt justify all the waiting around for 3 runs up the strip.

we are out with the old 928 GTS at silverstone in 2 weeks, i cant wait ive missed the 1st two meetings because i injured a ligament in my foot.
