Question Temperature Switch Issue?

Cleaning the '90 GT ground points today I decided to touch up the temperature switch contacts as well. I'm referring to the sensor that is on top of the intake at the rear of the engine (928 606 217 00 I believe). While I was removing the connectors I noticed that the plastic body housing the spades on the sensor turns freely in the metal sensor housing. Is this normal or should it be a sealed unit?

And, once I started fiddling with the plastic part, I lost track of the connector polarity - doh - is there a correct polarity for the two connectors on the sensor? I don't see anything marked on the sensor itself.

Neither WSM nor search are my friend today

As always, thanks in advance.

There is no polarity - it's just a continuity switch, closed by hot intake air, turning on the radiator fans.

The switch part is the plastic, encased in a metal shell. It can sit somehat loose in the shell.
