I'm going back to the oem vac solenoids, for the following reasons
1. they draw less current than the Toyota units
2. they fit the hoses and mount correctly
3. and this is the silly one - reversing the voltage from common ground to common Battery+ worried me as they were uninsulated and out in the open, but it now appears to be a RHD layout thing where porsche has spun them around 180 from the LHD mounting and deleted the insulating cover as per the photo below. Does anyone have a part number for one of these covers? [got it 928 573 225 02]

Could I use this GPIO board?

Cypress CY7C68013A-56 EZ-USB FX2LP USB2.0 Develope Board Module GPIO Pin

and use the same software as for the megasquirt board? or does it have to to be that GPIO board?

Sorry no, completely different processor and without the IO modules needed to interface with the car.

Steve, how did progress go on this?

Did you see this center console thread?

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...n-austria.html

Might be a nice addition to your 928 that already has a 996 cluster

Almost completed,
The controller and head have been in the car and operating well for several months now.
Its been sidelined for a little while as we have a major release of a telematics product in the in the final stages of development and testing. Oh, the joys of owning a company

Observations
PWM control of the fan motor is MUCH better than the resistor pack, and significantly lighter on the alternator at low load.

Still to do,
Activate and test the coding for auto temp control

So if anyone wants the source code to this for their own project, by all means let me know.

Steve,

I would love to try it out, and if you're up for sharing the source code, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a spare Audi digital HVAC (Hella) controller sitting around waiting

Cheers!

Some hi res photos of the prototype board for those that are attempting to build one

http://www.manstat.com/gpio%20hvac/climaprototype.zip

Please note, there are additional components on the board that are not part of the climatronic control system.
The second board on the top of the case is a prototype CAN-Bus gateway and there are some sense circuits on the GPIO I'm using for CAN integration.

Some questions and answers
1. A103G, connects to the climatronic head unit and its orientation can be seen in the photos
2. TA8050P, orientation and pin placement in photos
3. Mix servo. should be disconnected from the vehicle harness - unplug and safely tie away the original plug

Would it be possible to get a copy of the source code and wiring diagram?

Has this been fully implemented in someone's 928? Or is it still in progress?

IIRC the OP has it working in his own car, but has been massively sidetracked on a project which enables tuning CIS cars with a laptop

Google for Franken-CIS THere's a big thread on his development of it in the Porsche 930 forum over at pelican.

Thanks Hilton,

Yes, we have been busy doing more productive crazy things like FrankenCIS and Franken8 so this project was abandoned a couple of years ago.

For research purposes only the source code is linked a few posts back.
I've also managed to find the archived build page and put it back up on our web server so the link in the first post should now work again.
Be aware though - I don't remember any details on what we did or why, and the prototype was removed from my vehicle so please don't request clarification on details as I honestly cannot answer.

I would also suggest something other than the GPIO board from MegaSquirt is used if someone wishes to try as we had long term reliability problems with the product.

The Nissan **** HVAC project is probably a better all round option now anyway https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...l-upgrade.html
