This was done and discussed before. From what I remember, the bearing wasn't designed for side loading.

Had several requests for "how much?" on the Engine Coffee Tables.

I didn't know until I had built one.... here you go.

The Costs:

I offer $100 for unrebuilable engine blocks on this thread, and I pay for the shipping to us, another $65. (A TBF block is a good candidate for this, and a conversation piece too.)

Then 4 used 928 pistons and rods and head studs - core value of $100 for all of that.

The only part I had to make was the threaded wrist pins to sit atop the head studs and hold the pistons in place. 1 hour of machining time = $100

That's $365 without cleanup, degreasing, painting and and assembly. Add $100 for that.

Now I'm at $465.

This is just for fun. If you have these parts at home you can do it yourself for less. Glass not included - that and the shipping of the glass is the most expensive part. Better to just buy the glass locally or through any one of several internet glass top vendors. Google "Glass Table Tops" and you are all set...

Make the legs longer and get a much bigger/thicker glass and you have a dining room table... Maybe legs made from rear lower control arms

Just for fun... Another edition to the man-cave... what do old fire bottles become after they cannot be re-certified? Table lamps, of course! This one was used to put out the fire at Bonneville in 2012.

Default Buying cold air inlets

Many have replaced their old and broken early radiator fan shrouds.

If you still have the broken shroud laying in your garage, there might be $20 in it.

I'm buying the cold air plastic "funnel" and metal bezel for $10 per set, $20 for both of them.

I'll pay for the shipping. You can print a shipping label here:
http://www.928motorsports.com/shipping/

Pics of the parts below. Note only early radiator fan shrouds have removable pieces - the late-model shrouds are molded-in and of no interest to me.

You can drill out the rivets and send the pieces, or if you don't want to, just sawzall that section of the shroud off and send the piece. We will remove the parts from the plastic when it gets here. Don't ship the whole shroud!

That table turned out great Carl, did you get a chance to weigh the whole thing with glass after setup?

We need used clutch intermediate plates again. 1980-86 models.

Does not have to be "good" - just complete. We are replacing the center section with new. Does need to have a good ring gear to qualify.

I pay $45 cash or $55 in-store credit for each used intermediate plate core, plus the shipping to get it here.

Carl,
I think I have these laying around. Is that $20 cash or store credit?

I see I didn't specify in post #52 above.

So whechever you prefer. Please ship cheapest way - one of those "if it fits it ships" boxes from the USPS is a good start.

weigh the whole thing with glass after setup?
The block, 4 rods, 4 wrist pins, 4 pistons, and 4 head studs should be about 94 lbs. Without the glass.

Default Oil Pick-up Tubes

I need more oil pan pickup tubes. The one on the left in the picture below.

I am paying 25$ cash each for them, or $30 in-store credit. I pay for the postage, too.
