No, I would not want to rebuild that. If it was the last one on earth, yes, it could be done.... but the good news is it is a plentiful block and it would be easier, cost less, and you would have a better end product if I just rebuild another M28/41 for you.
You don't need THAT 1987-89 5.0 liter motor, you need A 1987-89 5.0 liter motor, and I can supply it.

You can't weld alusil easily. The silicon suspended in it makes for a dirty weld. Sleeving also has its drawbacks.

A new block would be much more cost effective as Carl is suggesting.

Guys: we desperatly need old clutch intermediate plates as cores to rebuild. I will now pay $120 a piece for these things, and the clutch area can be scratched and blued - I don't care. Just gotta send me pics so I can see it has good springs and is rebuildable.

Sorry, I do not need 78-80 concentric type intermediate plates. Just the late 1980-1986 pinned-style intermediate plates.

If you have any sitting in your pile of old parts - SELL IT TO ME - and help a fellow 928'r get his car back on the road.

PM me, or just email me at carl@928motorsports.com if you have one you want to turn into cash.
