I am in the midst of installing a set on Hebert's car, but was stopped dead by the lack of 22 (or so) of the 999 652 711 10 female mini pins needed to convert the door harness pins to a form factor that works with the GTS-style round barrel connectors. I have a set coming, will update with pics when they're all together.

I had same issue with wrong contacts in aero kit from Porsche. Bought thru Sunset Porsche and made them aware of the missing parts, which they did get and send on right away. I was told they get the kits from Porsche and when he checked all the kits they all had the missing parts and Porsche had included the wrong female contacts. I had bought mine back in 2008.

LOL, I bought my Sunset kit in 2008 as well, it was news to the current parts person that the N 017 564 1 and 999 652 496 12 pins are all wrong. The correct 999 652 711 10 pins are in the mail, $1.27 each. Guess I should have checked the box 4 years ago....

Just for S's and G's while we're on the subject, here are some labeled pics of the wiring harnesses from a '91. These pics are ONLY 'correct' for '90 and '91 cars, and could be an adjunct for Andy Evangelides' great installation writeup. Note that these pics of the door harness still have the factory connectors on them, they haven't been converted to the mini pins yet.

Driver's side Door harness, large connector:

Passenger side door harness, large connector

Driver's door harness, wires to mirror heater

Driver's door harness, all conenctors:

Driver's mirror harness pigtail, all pins ( I assume these are the 999 652 710 10 mini male pins...)

I priced a RHD mounts for my LHD 993 from local Porche Centre. It was actually quite cheap, around $100, I was surprised!

And FWIW never believe a vendor that says you can use lhd mirrors on a Rhd car.....

Just installed aero mirrors today and I took a pic of the car with one of each on the car for comparison. The aero's look much better than I thought when you do the one flag/one areo on the car for comparing. Pics coming.

One of each here too.
It's not the best photo but it gives an idea.
Those aero mirrors fit the 928 soooo well!

That really does look awesome. I picked up a set over the summer but I just can't bring my self to use them on the 79. I might just save them for the next project.

Thanks,, I am really happy with the updated look. I will add this teck tip. I am not sure if it is covered in his thread or not but I would advise using masking tape to cover the mirrors at install. The setting screw runs very close to the mirror housing and it is real easy to scuff the paint.

Default Teardrop mirror repair advice needed

Dear teardrop mirror experts, one of the mirrors on my 964 has broken and I want know if it can be repaired and if so where I can buy the part. The broken part is the central tube that is surrounded by the spring. Am guessing it is a fracture due to old age but a piece of the mirror-end of the tube has broken off and so now the the whole mirror is held on by black gaffer tape. Please see the photos showing the broken part. A parts list would also be useful so that can can order the correct part.
Thanks
Lawrence

Default Repairable most likely

It looks like the teeth on the end of the hollow bolt (965 731 257 00) have broken off allowing the bolt to separate from the mirror reinforcement plate. You are going to have to remove the mirror glass, separate the electrical connectors inside and remove the mirror from the car. Would be a good time to get it painted if needed. With a new hollow bolt you can then reattach the mirror base to the mirror housing and get the mirror back on the car.
Here's a link to a good tutorial which will help you http://www.928intl.com/repair/gtsmir...eromirrors.pdf

Thanks Gearz,
This is most helpful. The parts don't look too expensive so I will try the local main dealer and see how it goes.
