I gave Van the last of my Kroil, and helped him take apart his cocked up pressure plate. We talked about his new 700 inch/pound wrench and laughed our ***** off.

The next puzzle I see is the 87S4 flywheel/pressure plate, and 80 clutch fork ground down to allow the 87S4 throw out bearing to fit.

Given all cars now have 19mm ball for the fork, would an 87 fork work correctly?

Like Charles says, a long breaker bar has always done it for me.

3/8 snap-on breaker bar to remove.

3/8 torque wrench to put it back

Torque is in the arm

NOTE this picture is showing an auto flywheel along with the longer driveshaft this is about the only way to get the tool from going sideways .
The OP has a clutch so their driveshaft wont have this flange or longer driveshaft

Yup. I used the TT flexplate clamp on my automatic in this way to back the breaker so the bit could not back out of the flywheel bolt. Not available on the 5-speed.

Thanks to everyone, the bolts almost fell out. Thanks to Kroil and a good fitting
tool. I was very iffy using the Kragen, 4 for $6 tool, found a Mac tool that I could borrow. The fit is altogether different. I used my Snap On torque wrench and out they came/ Now to have it turned. Lesson learned.

As far as the damper bolt and the rear wheel hub nuts I use a three foot breaker bar. The come right off. The bolts on the flywheel I have never had a problem with but I have a special socket wrench from Snap On.

Just curious can the flywheel bolts be reused? There seems to be some confusion on this.

For future reference, I don't think it's a good idea to use a torque wrench as a breaker bar. Certainly not if you want to use it as a torque wrench again.

I agree with not using my torque wrench but the consequence of stripping a bolt
kept me up at night. I was willing to sacrifice my first born. I will never do it again
I promise.
