Thanks for checking it out. Still no call back from Jerry so I will call him again. It's sad that it wasn't better taken care of.

Goes to show how important a set of eyes on the car can be. Good writeup, Brian!

Having done an almost complete mechanical restoration (only have the transmission left to do) on my son's 1983...I'd have to think that almost anything with this kind of mileage would be a bargain an anything less than 20K.

Of course, if the coolant hasn't been changed on a routine basis...that "bargain" could quickly turn in to a nightmare.

Even though my son's car showed 70,000 miles (and the odometer was broken...no one know for how long), the block and heads were absolute trash from the acidic coolant "eating" away at the aluminum. After taking apart about 6 engines, from 928 International, to find one that had not been eaten up from the acidic coolant, I decided that this is going to be a major problem, as the years go on.

I encourage anyone looking at any low mileage 928 to have the head gaskets inspected very, very carefully. If there is any sign of coolant around the outer edge of the gasket...you need to take that into consideration when you make an offer on the vehicle. A 928 with 16,000 miles on it that has a junk block and heads is suddenly worth...a whole bunch less.

Like maybe 5K....tops?

Agreed. Well done and good of you to take a gander for the list members.
