Super Nice (But Super High Asking Price) 928 GTS on ebay

Non sunroof needs can be anything around 6 foot depending on which end is tall, some have long legs, some long bodies, others wear helmets.
I predict two things, it sells for the asking price, and the new owner will be very happy with it and the money spent won't mean squat.
Its not a direction I would personally go in, but I am not a purist and want a car to drive, so I would rather start with a nice car in a specific color combo I like and have Greg do a stroker and go through it end to end. For people that want the best in an original 928, and 5 spd and no sunroof, there are few options.

I know I may get flamed for this but the sunroof on the 928 was useless. It was way to small to really have any impact or give an open feeling to the car. I personally wouldn't care if it was there or not. The advantage I see with no sunroof is a cleaner roofline, easier to clean roof, no sunroof maintenance and a bit more headroom to give the interior feel bigger.

Back in those days a sunroof was a big deal, a luxury item. And today if it slides easy it is nice to open up, can even add an effect if you have a nice exhaust.

That GTS was on eBay when I was looking for a 928. About what, a year ago now? Pretty much the ultimate concours 928, 5 speed 5.4L, what a beauty. Would be no good for me at all though, i would be afraid to drive the **** out of it like it should be. Is this the most expensive 928 currently for sale in N/A? Jeremy Clarkson should buy it... he bought a GT40... what the hell?

I'm 6'5" and 220lbs. (I'm no string bean but I'm not on Jenny Craig either), I can fit in the sunroof car...barely. As soon as I put on a helmet or put a passenger in the back seat things get real tight real quick. It's to the point that I've ordered all the parts for 'the delete'. I plan on the conversion maybe next winter. This year it's GTS big reds on all four corners. I absolutely see the attraction of the sunroof delete cars. I just wish I'd bought one originally.

I think the reason the 928 went all sunroof is that dealers wanted to kill the 928 and focus on the $$$ pouring in for 911 variants. Dealers ordered 928's with a sunroof because it was a $2500 (from memory) bump in the price. Tall drivers were one of biggest groups that loved the early 928, and the sunroof flat killed that aspect.
I was mad as hell when I traded my 81 non sunroof and found I couldn't buy a new 928 without a sunroof, and I tried maybe 4 dealers. They would not order the car unless I made a large non refundable deposit and waited months for it to arrive. I was currently leasing and wanted a car sooner so I bought 944T instead.

I've noticed an increase in the prices of Ferrari's in the past 24 months. How this relates to sports cars in general I don't know.. but I hope he gets near the asking price for that car!

6'3" and do not fit in 928 sunroof cars. The sunroofs in these 28's are not all that great anyway. The wife's 02 Benz wagon sunroof is a heck of a lot nicer. Has a large tinted glass panel, privacy shade, fast power slide back & forth, tilts in the back, and has plenty of clearance for my fat head. 02 77Tony

Beautiful car, but forget the price... I'll never see that kinda money (too many kids yet to go to college) so its not an issue for me... But, what about the engine corrosion from sitting & lack of coolant changes, dried out engine & tranny seals & gaskets, dried out hoses, vac lines, etc...?? I'll assume the PO professionally moth-balled this car and kept it in a sealed, vacuum packed, bank vault somewhere... but why?? If they hadnt this car could be much more $$$$ than $110K...
