Pod recovering

I've done a decent job of filling the cracks
But I don't like the look of the surface.

Is there a pattern for recovering the pod?

How much material is required?

I know I can buy a pre-cut cover, but I thought I'd give it a try myself initially

Thx

Mike

Been there done that, seem coat isn't thick enough to hide all the Crack joints and edge imperfections of my pod.

I'd like to rewrap in leather or pleather, thus the q about material size and patterns

I think the PO is looking for patterns. I for one haven't seen any published here.

Or Robert Budd

Those two guys can recover it for you if you want.
Good luck.

I don't think you're getting much joy here so far, but I'm following the thread in case somebody comes up with patterns. Good luck!

I have patterns that I have worked up with my trim guy, Doug Corson, Here in River City. I have made mine out of sheet aluminum so they will last with usage, but I can trace them on heavy paper and send them to anyone who likes. I'll post some pictures of them later. I'll also post pictures of a couple of the pods we have covered using these. We worked the patterns up independently from the factory method of covering or anyone elses, for that matter, so the method of covering is a little different than you will find elsewhere.

We've got a local non-RL'er who just had the dash and pod on his SC'ed S4 recovered in leather by a shop in a small town northeast of Houston. He said is was considerably cheaper than the other alternatives. Hopefully he'll be at Friday's GTG if he can get it all back together, and I'll get to check it out. I'll post here if it looks like a good option.

Bought some material, pattern better than me winging it :-)

And if it sucks.....

Don I'll be looking for your report and info :-)

Here are some pictures of my pattern and the first pod we covered from it. There are a few minor changes in the pattern since this first pod, and I may want to make another one or two before we do it again, but the minor corrections are barely noticable. I see that I didn't pay close attention to how I layed these out since I think the big piece at the top of the pictures goes the other way around.

I have also written up about 6 or 7 pages of instructions about how to cover a pod with this pattern and I will be happy to send that along with the pattern if anyone is interested.

Wow, thats amazing work !

What I guess I am going to need is to go get some kind of roll of heavy paper that I can trace the patterns onto, some mailing tubes, and get my secretary to type up the instructions that I wrote up this morning so they can be included. I'll do all of that in the next couple of days and send these. Just PM your name and address and I get this out as soon as I can.
