Pod recovering

As a couple of you have discovered, my offer of these patterns, such as they are, is open to all comers, not just the OP. I think it will be really interesting to see how creative in fabricating any of you can be with these as a start. I probably need to mark which part of the pattern goes with which part of another, and maybe I'll do that on the paper tracings I am making. I'm sure it will help a bunch.
Then, I suppose it will all fail when it comes to sewing these up because men cannot be a seamstress because they cannot mend straight. Get it?
Name and address only, please.

We've got a local non-RL'er who just had the dash and pod on his SC'ed S4 recovered in leather by a shop in a small town northeast of Houston. He said is was considerably cheaper than the other alternatives. Hopefully he'll be at Friday's GTG if he can get it all back together, and I'll get to check it out. I'll post here if it looks like a good option.

For those who have shown some interest I have made 8 tracings of my patterns and have obtained 12 mailing tubes. My Secretary had to take the draft of the instructions home to work on, so I hope that tomorrow I'll have those done and copied. I have 7 confirmed recipients of these patterns and one more expected in Tasmania. Any one else?

OK, I just shipped what I am pretty sure is all of the patterns asked for, except someone in Tasmania who expressed an interest but has not sent me the name and address. I still have paper to copy the pattern onto and mailing tubes and I can still aford to pay the postage.
I want to thank everyone for the gracious offers to pay me something on this program, but I suggest that we simply pay it foreward.
I mailed all of these by Priority Mail, so, except for Canada, I think everyone will have the patterns and instructions on about Tuesday. If you don't get yours by about the end of the week, let me know and I'll send another set.
Happy New Year to all of you Guys, and Gals.

I, and my trim guy, Doug Corson, who did the actual sewing and covering of the Pod shown earlier in this thread, have received some nice compliments on the workmanship. However, he and I know that the grade we deserve on this particular pod is at best a C+ and maybe no bettrer thatn a D. The cover on this tan pod is the very first prototype and it is the second time we put the cover on. With the problems associated with doing it again we elected not to do so and did a couple others later.
The main reason I showed this pod is merely to show the design and technique of the patterns we worked up together. The reason for what I think is such a low grade is that the french seams do not follow the right contour of the pod etiher around the outer edge or around the tunnel. I think we made almost enough adjustment in the patterns after this first pod to accomodate the problems.
For some reason I could not quite get Doug to see what I wanted about having the center of the French seam right on the crown of the transition from face to top or face to tunnel. I think he was getting the hang of it with the third pod we did, and that is the one I sent to Dean Fuller for his son's car.
The reason for telling any of you this is that I think that the pattern I sent may accomodate the need for the extra material needed to get the seams where they ought to be, and to help those who are going to try this on their own to understand that the pictures I showed are less than they ought to be for a properly finished pod. Follow the instructions and use the pictures in this thread only as a general guide.

That looks pretty good Jerry. What material do you suggest is easiest to accomplish the best job? Pod covering is in my future so this is a great thread. I am anxious to see how a few others turn out using the patterns.

I concure...Jerry is the man and he's a blessing for this community. The pod he sent Garrett for his car is PERFECT! I think anyone would be thrilled to have one as nice.
