Default Rear license plate lamp substitute?

Is there a substitute rear license plate lamp assembly that is more resistant to salt and moisture than this (928 347 015 05):

Thanks.

It only lasted over 20 years, with various exposure to various elements.

If you are looking for sometime to exceed these expectations, my guess is you won't find it. And more than likely will have to wait 20+ years to find out.

FWIW, here's a substitute for you, for $38. LINK A new one.

(again, this is my sarcastic humor. Appears I'm feeling that way this morning. )

I doubt it lasted 20 Jim - probably haven't worked for a decade. But I don't think there could be a worse design based on positioning - mounted as a receptacle pointing up and exposed inside the rear bumper. I've seen better on other cars. Maybe you are just too used to 'German Engineering' - my sarcasm de jour
