We could start a separate 'TB boogie' picture thread.

And.... It is off! No broken WP bolts, no broken water drain plugs.
Only things different from Doug's write up is: 'it should just slide off'.
Crank gear is still on. Cannot get it to move, so the plastic back cover is on as well. But I can work around that. Idle roller had to persuaded a bit as well.
But all in all I am a happy man. All went well and I would not have tackled it without the write up.

And the WP indeed had quite a bit of play.
So, it is downhill from here for the last stretch.

Thanks! Just read the whole thing! Probably a year away from doing this, but one helluva good read!

The new idler roller looks different. It is about the same width. Bearing looks the same as well.
But it does not have the rounded side like the original one.
Is it o.k. to put the new one on?

Hi Leo,
The lower front of engine looks pretty dirty. Is it leaking oil? If so, this is the time to address it. I just finished this project, and this write-up was invaluable.
Good luck,
Dave

Yes, leaking water and oil. Need to pick up the final parts next week. I am going to do it all now. WP, TB, oil pump, tensioner...
First time, but the write up is great. Without it I would be lost...
Cleaning up the front and parts is the most time consuming though...

use STP oil treatment when you reassemble the oil pump, and use it to fill the tensioner.
Use Hondabond 4 on the tensioner gasket
and Dow Corning 111 on the Big O ring ,
I like to use new bolts on the water pump ACE sells em
and PTFE pipe sealant on the bolts so they wont rust from coolant seeping into the bolt threads

Thanks Stan. I have new WP bolts which came with my package order from 928gt.com

Any ideas on the roller? They look different. And I have read the other thread about the belt not being in the right position...

Hi, I just wanted to say a big thank you to Doug. I have just finished the TB WP OP refresh and could not have done it without Doug's write up next to me on the old Ipad.
It is running smoother than ever now.

To recap my first TB WP change, I have written an owner's report on the new 'flüssig' website. I hope you enjoy it. And thanks for all your support.

Doug,
THANK YOU ! ! ! ! ! !
What an incredible resource.
When they talk about the "value" of a 928, this type of work and documentation which you have so kindly provided is many times overlooked.
Guys like YOU are the value of the 928. Again, thanks so much.
Dan
