when ppl do bad bussiness with me or my friends we usually make a video of "our experiance" and some comentary of our displeasure and post it on youtube for everyone to see. it works really well with bad e bay deals too.

...are those period-correct BBS wheels on your car? I have a set, and agree with you about the need to use hand tools only...to answer the question, he was surely an *** to refuse business in this economy, and it'll come back to bite him.

Best I can tell those BBS's have been on there a LONG TIME, they were originally gold someone painted them white ( poorly ) I broke them down had them powder coated black and silver. Much better. I had a set of tires brought in to put on my current truck Tuesday, guess he will need to send them back.

+1! Nobody, but nobody, touches the lug nuts on these wheels but me. In addition to what Gunar says, buggered nuts, crossed threads, no anti-seize are the opposite of what I need. So simple to take care of this properly, yourself.

You should send this thread to the mechanic and have him read it. You weren't the ***, he was.
My tire shop loves me, they always put me in front of the line and let me get into the pit and help with alignments. (that and I bring the right tools)
The alignment guy takes his time, might have something to do with the tip he gets, every time.

He was definitely the ***, however letters and videos would be immature IMHO. He lost your business and will lose the business of anyone else with a similar request. It is his business, and he can decide if he wants your money or not. He didn't screw you over, and he doesn't owe you anything.
No need to rub it in his face, or try to "win" this one. He lost as soon as he lost your business.

I thought the Porsche recommendation was to not use anti-seize on the alloy nuts?

Tire shop over here lost my business in a similar way. I removed the wheels myself and took them in for new tires and balance, caught the tech using a die grinder with wire wheel clearing a spot for the stick on wheel weight. I flipped!

Lot of people don't like being pushed, so when you say do this or I move my business someplace else its AMF. (adios my friend).

OTOH I wouldn't make a business choice for reasons principally other than business reasons.

I thought antiseize on the face, not on the threads, but then I found this...and note the last line in the caution box.

The guy is a first class A-hole. You did the right thing. What ever happen to customer service? I my opinion an honest, competent tire shop is one of the hardest things to find. Hope the new shop treats you and your company right.

They don't want your business. No need for namecalling. It is what it is and you vote with your pocketbook. Looks like you won on this encounter by finding a cheaper, more agreeable vendor to work with.

Better follow those directions. If you do not, in less than 1 season you can get enough corrosion to cause the face to bond to the wheel. Leaving you with a broken lug. (I know, my first task when I got my car was removing 5 snapped lugs) Took the whole day.

Sounds like I tire shop here in OKC. This guy has moved a couple of times as he "wears out his welcome" in an area and needs to move to get business.

His young assistant scratched the heck out of a wheel mounting tires and they guy refused to do anything about it. Actually told me it was cheaper for him to lose me and all my friends as customers than replace the wheel. Made me want to take to cost of a wheel out of his Mercedes paint job.
