It's alive!!!
 
Just finished getting Terry's car finished.
91 GT
Installed
New Laso pump,
Stage II cams w/ Tri-Flow,
Lindsey Racing valve springs,
New valve stem seals,
WR5DC+ plugs tapped to .028"

Cams adjusted to zero 5-8 and -2 1-4.

I am just doing the 20 min of running at 2000 RPM with EOS in the car for breaking in the cams right now. Car fired right up with no hesitations!

Terry posted the dyno numbers for this car before but hopefully he will do it here too. We will do a little sharktuning soon and then he will dyno the car.

Took me 6 hours to get the cams out, 3 hours to change the springs and seals. And a little more than 6 hours to get it back together (damn oily valve covers!).

I fully understand WHY that is done in a typical cam in block V8, but why on a 928 as far as the RPM, not the additive for the oil?

I do agree with you that it is likely not required for the 928 given the amount of oil that is in the heads.
But I figure why risk it, it burns a little extra fuel, but causes no real wear on anything else.
And at higher RPMS I believe that you would see a faster/more rotation of the lifters helping them seat to each other.

I just took the car out for a drive after posting that. Terry needs new (stickier) tires on this car.
First is useless with any throttle, second you can get away with a little more.
My seat of the pants dyno does indicate that there is much more mid range punch with the tri-flow.
But that also could be the restriction in the exhaust boosting it up a little too.
Either way, the car fires right up, settles into a smooth idle, you can rev it and lift and it goes right back to a nice idle like a stock car would.

I will warn anyone who wants to do this though, changing these with the engine in the car is not easy! The hardest part is getting the old valve stem seals off! Most of them ended up flying across the shop when they finally came free......
By the time I got to the last 3 cylinders it was right around 15-20 min per cylinder to change all 4 springs, and seals.

Its not too hard to do it while we're doing the cam covers.....

But we do need to complete the last of the preventative maintenance first Danny.

Nice car ! notice how clean the motor is ! Here is the BEFORE dyno run . The car is STOCK with the exception of a RMB . I will be doing a emisions test in the next day or two and will scan the results before / after . Same with a dyno run. Colin has not sharktuned the car yet , all that was done was install the cams . The car runs very nice / no ruff idle / bog / it pulls at 1500 rpm in 5th with no protest , and feels a lot stronger mid range--- all the way up !

I just heard from Terry a few minutes ago.

He took the car to our local emissions testing.
They start with a rolling test at 40kmph (25MPH), car was 2200-2400 RPM.
All sections passed right at "average".
The car is then left idling for a brief period and it failed here.
CO% .52 (pass .51), HC 125 iirc (pass 84).
I believe what has happened is that the mid range needs a little fattening up. The reason is that when driving at 2200-2400RPM the adaption pulled it back to stoich giving good numbers. Once it was returned to idle the adaption circuit could not adapt fast enough and it ran rich for too long giving it richer numbers.
So we will need to do a slight amount of tuning before running it through. But this does tell me that the vehicle will be able to pass with these massive cams in it!

OK...I lost track of something here..what is tri-flow? Is that your lob profile?

With one of my prior cars that was more of a knuckle-dragger, it was possible to tune the idle for a decent lope without saturating the cylinders or causing hard start problems. Less suitable on this platform I guess- it does idle/rev nicely.

That is exactly why I dont want to know :) Your car sounds incredible and it goes like a bat out of hell. So I know when the numbers confirm my butt dyno it will be hard to resist :icon107:
