Greg, but did YOU have fun with it??? In the end isn't that all that matters? Had to have been a blast!

Reminds me of a 911 I saw a few years ago with a NASCAR V8 stuffed in the back (yes it was near Charlotte, darn rednecks :-), owner said it had 700+ hp and offered me a ride...I declined, no freaking way was I going RIDE in that...but I would have jumped at the chance to DRIVE it :-)

In the end, if people are building/buying their toys to gain others approval, ...maybe spending it on therapy would be a better investment...LOL

But I do agree about turning a 928 into a "Camaro"....that's insane, WTF is wrong with some people....

They should turn it into a MUSTANG!!

someone call the padded wagon and men w/jackets with no buttons........DR has lost his mind

I believe most who own 928s recognise they are not Camaros nor want them to be. I want to open the hood and see a Porsche engine that 'looks' stock to all.

A reasobly priced stroker kits is what Ive waiting for for more HP and not go the 'add on' route........ETTO

I think most 928 owners would be very happy if their car could do this

First and foremost, I'm not into brand loyalty. To me, cars are just hunks of metal that have been pounded into various shapes with various performance specs. I like some of them (have always loved the 928) and don't like the shape of others (Vipers, for example). But, why should anyone care what I like? They might appreciate what I've done with my 928s or they might think I'm a total idiot. Don't really care.

However, other than explaining why I did this or that, I'm not here to defend it. Fortunately, I don't have a need to profit from my exploits.

As to the tube frame Camaro, notice the car in the background. 2010 Camaro bodied SCCA GT1 car.

I no longer care about strokers, LS motors, Camaro's........please pan that camera to the left and show us the yellow car.

Thanks!

'56 AC Aceca. One of two purchased recently by a customer of the shop. One is at a restoration shop to be brought back to original specs. This one had a Cadillac V8 and auto. It will be re-created into a custom street car.

Pete Brock is a friend of the owner and came by the shop to "inspect" the car. Actually, he was there to determine if the boys were up to the task of executing the design modifications he had drawn up for the car. It will be a lengthy process, as the body is being lengthened and strengthened with many changes to the rear deck and wheel wells.

Even more interesting to me, Brock is moving to Las Vegas and he and his wife were staying at Scott Mann's house, who owns Renegade Hybrids, while their house was being finished. Renegade did my first 928 conversion and I've stayed with Scott many times. Wow, I slept in the same bed as the guy who designed the Daytona Coupe Cobra.

I did have fun. I was able to run with SCCA Solo 1 as an "A Sports Racer"....which meant I raced against open wheel cars with huge Chevy engines.

I also ran with the Cobra owner's club...and could keep most of the 427 Cobras behind me.

Not many other events welcomed me.

Leave the 928's here

OT loves "barn find" kind of threads. I don't recall there ever being one on AC Acecas.

There wasn't much of a story, ala barn find, with the acquisition. Collector in SoCal wanted to unload them. Maybe I can post up the project once it is done.

Funny thing Greg, had you left the stock engine in there, and super-or turbocharged it, you would have ended up with a VERY different animal... you would have had:

"...a dry sumped Porsche engine in it that made almost 500 hp. Bulletproof. Very Fast. "

In the end you having fun with it is all that mattered....you those that didn't welcome you.....they were probably just scared you would spank them..LOL

BTW, getting to run against 427 Cobras...yeah, I am jealous...no matter what you were in!!

Cheers,

Dave

I was at a vehicle standards testing station in about 1991 in South Africa. As I waited for my W123 to be tested, this dude walks up and asks if I'll please help him push his Porsche. So as I approach I notice it has a V8 stuffed in the back. Hack-job.

He says it's a Vette motor

So I push ... and the engine catches ... and I swear to my young eyes, I had never seen any moving thing move so fast in my life ... and I grew up with Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc. It seemed like 10 seconds and he was gone out of sight. Made one hell of a racket too
