Alternator Question
I have an 84 with a Paris Rhone alternator that just went bad. I was looking at the websites for the local parts dealers and found that there are Bosch and Paris Rhone replacements. Wondering if I could use a Bosch due to them costing much less. Will the cooler bolt up to a Bosch? Is there a difference in quality.
Also, if im not running anything other than what came with the car, should I get anything more than a 75 amp?
Thanks in advance.

You could fit a $70 130A AC Delco one instead.
See this huge thread here:

And this one for part no. and bit more info:

Why after all those years does you car now need more than 75 amps? There are tradeoffs with the upgrade. Your probably better off staying with the stock alternator and cooling hose.
Without the cooling hose, the alternator will be sucking heat from the exhaust header and run hot, reducing its useful life.

I took the alternator off my 81 to get it checked and my alternator shop asked me when I started working on Audi's. Which explained why the cooler shield from Roger wouldn't fit it. Bolted right up. I have a spare P/R unit, just haven't gotten 'round to changing it.
