Brembo Brakes…should I?

Burning Brakes
If it's an '82, it's not an "S," unless it's a Euro (the US "S" wasn't introduced until '83).
The US Competition Group had everything the Euro "S" had except the 4,7L engine. Best way to tell if you've got "S" brakes is to look at them. PO may have added the spoilers.

I am going to put on bigger Brembo front brakes on my oldest 1985 928S Strosek. The stock brakes are not up to date of modern cars. I like to be able to stop quickly when the moose is running up on the road which happens often here in Scandinavia. Have you ever hit a large animal weighing half a ton or more when doing 100+ mph? I have been close a few times also when riding a motorcycle. One of my best friends was killes many years ago hitting a moose with his bike.

True... but they will ensure that our confidence in our over-engineered cars is well placed.
>>This owner was keeping up with a pack of faster cars and while they had upgraded their brakes along with their power -he did not. Total loss of brakes due to boiling fluid.

I would assume that your right, only because I noticed the rotors were slotted.
I am the 3rd owner of the car. The first owners had the car up until 95 and sold it a friend of the family. I got service records for the car going back to 88.
The original owner of the car was a woman. The second owner was a Almond grower and he sold the car to me in 2010. So what I have is how it came from the dealer. No mod's what so ever, other than that "resistor" they attached the Temp II sensor.
Here is the video of those brakes....
The guy wanted 450 for the rotors !!!! And 125.00 for each caliper....

Question....are those ECU's (Sorry if I used the wrong tech term) on the passenger side of the car any good. Maybe someone can use them. If so I can have them pulled and sent to someone...

I wouldn't spend the $$$ on an '82 with 200+k miles, unless you feel you are going to keep it forever. It should get whet it needs (maintenance stuff) and be done on the cheap. Go all the way and get a good S4 or GT if you want all the best 928 performance. Much better $$$ spent than on the old '82.

Its like airbags and ABS, people just learned to drive worse..they felt 'safer'...but never got better at it.

Also, if you can lock up the tires with the current setup, larger brakes will not make the car stop faster or, you can come to a stop, at the limit or locking up from 100mph, then you are as good as it gets. The limitatins are the coefficient of friciton between the tires and the road. In an emergency situation, you will stop just as fast with the current setup as with a 6 poiton setup.

Maybe you have a crappy set of pads check that before "upgrading". My '85 stops better than most modern cars.

The pads are from Porsche. My two S4 (87 and 91) Strosek cars do stop much faster. The 87 having GTS brakes is clearly the best. The Alpina B10 having a custom setup from Alpina (the large Lucas calipers are the same as on Mercedes 600 W220) do have the best brakes of all my cars. It is not possible to lock up the front tires of my 85 at 100mph even if the ABS is not working.
