Default Porken 32 VR Cam timing

On my 91 GT I was checking the TB tension and also the CAM timing. The tension was a little low so I adjusted it to the middle of the window of the Kempf tool. On checking the timing I have the balancer set at T/O and the passenger side bank (1-4) is at 0 and the driver side is (5-8) is +2 (advance) using the Porken 32VR.
Should I leave it or try and adjust to -2 for banks (1-4) and 0 for banks (5-8)?
Thanks
Bilal

Bilal,

Most everyone who has checked the Kempf tool vs the Porsche tool for timing belt tensioning has found that the Kempf tool needs to have the window ~90% closed in order for the belt to test at about 5.1-5.2 on the Porsche tool. Unless your tool is different, you might need to snug the belt up a bit more to be on specification.

N00b question:

What power losses/gains are discovered in checking cam timing?

Uhhh, there are several threads on the settings. You might want to search Porken's threads. But the above seems to be the consensus, if there is one.

If you read Ken, he talks about doing it with engine hot and differences between driver's side and passenger vs. belt stretch and other variables. Oh, and auto vs. 5-speed.

I'm going to see if Herman's settings wake mine up.

We're looking for more bottom end, less top, since we don't have an autobahn.
