Default 1988 928 question

i've noticed a very low mileage '88 model ( like 12K miles ), but they are asking $31K. (!) i know this is an awesome car but wow, does that seem extreme to you guys? i have a 996 C4S now, but have always been drawn to the 928. upkeep costs are a part of every p-car so that doesn't bother me too much, and this may be as nice a 928 as is out there but... to see it check out Goodman-Reed motorcars. thanks for any input.

That is quite low miles, but not extremely low... Where are you at stairmasterman? I am in Cedar Park. We have a monthly 2nd Saturday 928 gathering in Austin (various locations) and you are welcome to join us and have a look at the various 928's...

That would be ALL THE MONEY...probably and then some, but I bet it would be a hell of a nice car!

pm sent. thanks james. my only downside to that car is the auto shifter, but i suppose that car sort of lends itself to more luxury. they're just so darn beautiful. and that color combo is awesome.

Low mileage is overrated, but will always attract $$. What's the maint. history on this car? If the gaskets are original, can anyone tell the difference between a 23 yr old main seal with 12K miles and 23 yr old seal with 100k miles? The 12K seal might start leaking sooner. I'm not tearing down this car. It certainly hasn't been butchered I assume by somebody putting those Kermit headlights on it and that is worth a few thousand. If I had $32K to burn I wouldn't buy this '88, though.

If at all possible get to the Austin event or the Third Coast event and compare MYs. Also try an A/T with a properly working kickdown vs. a 5 speed.

Wow - that car appears to be the spitting image of my car. Only it looks brand new!

That is some coin. It needs the right buyer for sure.

I'd take a close look at the service records before settling on a price.

I have an 88 auto, the car has *****! I bought it with 30k miles. Now at 50k.
I love it. I had an 01 996. So I came from kinda the same position you are in.
Never regretted the move.
Just looked at the pics of the car, drivers seat has a lot of wear. for $31k I would want it perfect.
Here is a pic of my interior for reference. Original

Sure is a sexxxy car

Just make sure you see it in person. That seller has had some bad reviews. http://www.yelp.com/biz/goodman-reed...-santa-barbara

I agree. You should have a look at it in person. Also, the driver's seat does look more worn than I would expect with so few miles.
