Do i give my new 79 928 away?
as some of you know i just picked up a 79 5speed, she was under water for a few days. I got this car for free from a fellow rennlister, I have been drying it out and working hard to clean. I've got her running and moving she shifts throw all the gears, she has a miss now but thats to be expected for a car that had just been submerged and looks to have original wires and injectors. she will need a lot of work and money to save, but i believe she can be saved and will be one way or another.
So here what im thinking, I've got the 928 bug, i passed it on to my brother the day i let him drive mine, he's been looking ever since. I have a ton of work and money still to put in mine and can't do both at this time. with the fact this new car had been under water i feel it needs the attention NOW not later. my brother pete is gun ho to get this car and start going to town. i got it for free and could never sell it. The problem i'm having is its the same car i already have, do i keep it and fix it up or just hang on to it as a parts car for my other? or hook my big brother up with it and be blamed for his addiction!
i already have a 69 gto and my truck, do i really need another 928!
what do you guys think?
Steve

If it salvageable then save it. If your brother can afford the time and $$ committment then by all means, pay it forward. Luckily the 79 has the least amount of electrical bits. Be sure to keep the battery disconnected until you are sure it's properly dried out. The water+electricity is what really kills the elec. system when a car gets wet. It's not really the water alone that does the damage.

Hook a brutha up. Except that he's a little close to you if it turns out to be a complete cluster for him.....

I would take it a little further before you hand it off. You know that some of its problems are gonna come back to you, so better to resolve as many as you can while it is easier.

As the original donor: Give it to your brother. Better to have two 928s on the road and, if it doesn't work out for him, you can always get it back and then use it for parts.

Give him the car and tell him he has a long road ahead of him and you don't want to hear him bitch about it.
I could always come out and take it from you but I won't get to it for a good 4 months.
