Default Can I use these top lock nuts...

I'm replacing the steering rack bushings on the GTS and the only replacement top lock nuts I can find are 9/16 head size. Are these big enough and, if so, what would be a safe torque setting?

The lock nut goes on the bottom. You reach the bolt head with a swivel socket like this..

Are the factory bolts too short for the non-factory bushings your using? The factory bolts are M10x45mm.

I have the factory nuts but my understanding is that they should not be reused, hence the questionable replacements.

Only use the correct size metric bolt and nut. You can reuse the bolts, however the WSM states to replace the lock nut.

On my car, I have reused those bolts and lock nuts after degreasing and visually inspecting the them for wear and defects.

Actually they're not nylocks, they're machined top locks. They look fine, but once used, the locking groove is then theoretically compromised.

I'm thinking I'm feeling better about reusing the old ones than the smaller new ones. They still feel like they are locking once they're threaded to the top of the nut.

Mine (were off, on..damnit..then off again, and then ON again) were still tight enough to require a good firm hand to tighten up before torquing.

Theyre fiiiiine.

I reused mine, but I also stayed with the factory rubber bushings which reduce any vibration to the lock nut.

Of course you could always double them up.

I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to add a 1 1/2 inch washer top and bottom or would that tend to defeat the sound and harshness benefit of the delrin?
