Need help 87+ Fog/Driving Lens - Stongard R&R
Can anyone tell me if I can and how to reinstall the thick self adhesive Stongard film covers on my GT's Fog/Driving light lenses?
I got them a few years ago from DR and installed them on my then new Fog/Driving lights. Drivers side went on perfectly and still fits great, but the passenger side had a small bubble at the top edge that I thought I had smoothed out, but over the years has begun to sag and now the "pocket" is gradually getting bigger.
I think taking it off carefully with heat will be OK, I'm just not sure what to use adhesive wise to reinstall it that would remain clear after and hold like the original drivers side has when I put it back on.
Anyone else had to deal with this?

once you peel it off you have to reuse it. you can't reapply it... Also be carefule using heat to take it off. O much heat can crack the lens. the best way to remove it would be to remove the light assembly so you can us various cleaners to get the adhesive off.

Thanks Sterling, good idea on removing the light to get the stongard off cleanly.
Anyone have a suggestion on the adhesive to use to reapply the stongard to the light that will stay clear and is strong enough?

Rick - I don't think stongard is available anymore for fogs - so less intusive methods than total removal might be best.
I'd be inclined to try to get it to adhere better without totally removing it. Take the glass out and try to collapse the bubble in situ, 2 options - insert small needle from the side under the stongard and try to roll the air bubble out and get the residual adhesive to stick. Or if the bubble is right in the middle maybe jab a hypdermic needle right through the surface on an angle to try to do the same.
