Default rear axle boot replacement help

First I have to thank all of the contributors who have posted tips, pictures and great help guides. I have not posted in a long time because I have had not time to work on the car. I have just stared at my to do list and I am making great progress thanks to all of you. 1989 S4....
Did the inner door handle job, found it to be relatively easy since I knew what to expect. I would not recommend anyone leave out the security plate however as some people have said they have done. I am a police officer and this car is very vulnerable to any tow truck driver with that plate removed. I think the job was easier because a I have a lift and although I had big hands, being able to raise the car makes getting your hands in there very easy. The hardest part for me was putting back the two hex cap screws holding the outer handle on.
To my question - have pulled my rear drivers side axle to replace the outer boot. I have read all the great write ups but either I have not had enough sleep or I am completely missing something. How do I disassemble the bearing set on the outer race. The inner is easy but I dont see in any of the write ups how to get the outer apart?? Does the inside cap drive off to release the race?

Those inner handle screws are easier if the outer handle can be held "open".

After around 84-85 the outer joints can't be taken apart, well at least not by us lot. Some of the rebuilt ones on sale have been properly taken apart and reassembled.

A lot of us do the white spirits in bucket - hole plugged with golfing tee - fill joint with white spirit using turkey baster - do butter churning dance to clean the grease out. Finish up with brake cleaner, pack with grease more half shaft pumping etc.

Dwayne has done it with lots of photos.
