Default ebay add - 85 euro

Supposedly.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_21806wt_958

Seller quotes car as "like new"

...kind of doesn't appear that way. I wouldn't mind having it as a project if it's the real deal.

Warning check engine code,
it has a single distributor with vacuum advance , indicates the motor is possibly a US 4.5 or 4.7
The euro 84/ 85 had a dual Dizzy and LH 2.2 computers, with MAF
no telling what this has

It is CIS and single distrib so NOT an 85....pretty rough looking car and odometer reading is NOT true miles. Front wheel offset is wrong and has been hooking the fender lips chunking the tire. Title issues would concern me ! Has 1983 USA title ????

Noticed most of those warning signs as well. Also, I thought the euro side marker lights were inset? These appear to be simply screwed on top of the fenders.

The Euro side marker is recessed into the fender but retained by the screw and does project outward a bit.

I emailed this dealer, he said he won't take less than 5K for it, claims he has that much in it, not worth
5K, more like 2500-3000, rough!

Interior is a confusion, door panels are pre 84, but it has a round clock which I thought changed much earlier.

Front and rear side markers changed/added to match the Euro ones.

US headlights.

Engine is CIS, but I always forget WUR straight means S or non S, vs WUR 45 degrees?

Bridgestones on one end, Kumho on the other.

Man, I just don't get it!

My 9-3 convertible has sat oustside a lot, been driven 180'000 miles and still looks NEW from 2 meters away and on the inside. All those raty cars you see, can only have odometers that have been messed with...

Straight, on center WUR, plus larger diameter intake runners = Euro S engine.

This car has a 300HP single dizzy 4.7 Euro S engine w/ CIS.

I am thinking it is an '83.

VIN is WP0ZZZ92ZDS840287 Seems like the seller may be getting plenty of help. Sticker from the importer says 1985, but its an 83, with my guess about average miles in a bit less than average condition.

Wow...things have changed on here. I tried to find my old account prior to adding a new one last month, but I guess after a decade of not owning a 928 or logging in, your account gets deleted. My first 928 was an 1983 and I bought it in 1999 if I remember correctly. It was a US automatic. It was in decent shape and with Dave Robert's (928 Specialist) ample assistance (prior to him moving from GA to NC) and assistance from this board (before any of you were members) I was able to restore that one. My second one was a 1982 which I pulled from the weeds behind a repair shop. It too I restored, but it was a true mess when I found it. Now, 10 yrs later, I locate a 1983 Euro in some guys garage where it has been stored for yrs. It has 1985 stamped on the import tags, but no known history. It has no corrosion under the rear quarter windows, there is no blockage in the sunroof drain tubes allowing water to run down through the fuse/relay panel in the passenger foot compartment, looks to have been garage kept it's whole life due to the mostly original paint with minimal fading, no visible previous body damage, runs very strong, has no fluid leaks, has had quite a few quality aftermarket parts installed and all the self righteous "newer" members of Rennlist can do is tear it apart when I attempt to sell it. If any of you are interested in gaining some facts about this car verses some assumptions based on a few pics, please contact me and I will try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. A friend of mine listed it on his ebay account, and it did sell for $3950 - but the buyer apparently changed their mind and never sent the money. He is re-listing it for me in hopes it will actually be paid for this time. Most common question is "why are you selling it?" Simple answer: need capital - starting a new business. I also have for sale my S-500, XJ8, X-Type, and mint '82 Riviera Convertible - already sold my G35 "Skyline", Katana, and 745li. It is in my warehouse in Birmingham Al. I can shoot a short YouTube video if anyone wants to hear it crank and run. Thank you.

Perhaps the only thing that has changed here is with time, members have gotten sharper about over-hyped ads for substandard cars. Ad states "awesome condition" - hardly. Even a cursory look at that engine bay indicates an owner who probably has not done a very good job of keeping up with the simple maintanence. Missing 3 straps on the air box, no hot post cover, dirty bay all around. Please also, "awesome condition" with the front spoiler ripped off except for the sides, the fenders messed up for the reasons Jim said, misaligned sunroof panel, and on and on. This car looks like a dog to me.
When a seller obviously misrepresents the condition of a car - reps that don't even comport with the pictures - and does not address simple things like wrong engine for car, you can expect no less

I've got no side or sympathy with people flipping cars, we are here to support owners like whoever buys this car and tries to put it back on the road. They need to know it has a LOT of work waiting to be done, despite being shiny.

We informed the ebay lister of various mistakes, corrected the VIN so carfax works, and let him know without question its a 1983 model regardless of what some importer typed up on the door sticker.

It may be nice in many ways, but nobody here is naive enough to think it has 61k miles on it, or that the speedo which is not in the original KPH hasn't been changed.
