You guys are all mean! After all this car has that very rare 928 option "height adjustable front torsion bar with adjustable linkage". Oh well!

Gentlemen, while I appreciate your assistance and have never underestimated the wealth of knowledge possessed by those on this forum, the broad assumptions made on behalf of an ebay auction astounds me. I am glad to know the 1985 is just a sticker placed on the drivers door sil where a factory VIN plate usually goes. Since this is my first Euro, I was not familiar with the ability to place an incorrect manufacture date on a vehicle. Likewise, being my first Euro, I was not familiar with the specifics on the gauge cluster, although over a decade ago when I was active in the Shark community I have replaced many a stripped gear in the odometer for members on this list...albiet they were all US models.

While I appreciate the support for owners on this list, please do not assume I my intention was to "flip" this car. I have wanted another 928 since I sold my last one, and undoubtably, I will purchase another one in the future. I bought this one because it is an excellent starting place. I am not asking 6-8k for a car that I know is not worth it. While I apologize for my friends ebay ad, it is just that, an ad. It is a template that is used many times per week and he has a 100% satisfaction rating. Why? Because as it also states...if you are not 100% satisfied after looking at it in person, you do not have to purchase the car. But people, look at the seller history...it is a template.

About the obvious signs of wear in the pictures, of course they are documented. If I did not want people to see the front fender offset issue, do you think I would have posted a close-up picture of the rubbing? Likewise with the interior, I could have bought a set of seat covers, glued the panels back up into place on the doors, cleaned it up, and shot it at angles that hid the wear and age, but I wanted people to know exactly what they are getting and see the reality. I shot a hi-res image of the engine for that exact same reason. The few people that bothered to call me asking about driving it, I explained to them about no known history on the last timing belt/water pump change and it would not be a good idea to drive it any distance until those were checked/replaced by an experienced 928 mechanic.

You make it sound as though some poor soul is trying to be taken advantage of by someone flipping a POS, while that is not even close to the truth. Opinons are like a$$ holes, everybody has one, but that does not make them factual.

If you have questions about the car or it's condition, please let me know.

Looks a bit cobbled.
Last 4 or 5 like that I was involved buying were sub 2500.
A couple of those were 32V cars.
A decade. Decay. Recession. Extensive knowledge build and assembly. Some new failure mechanisms revealed, some very important and unexpected. Key parts, like clutch, requiring extreme expenditure to replace.

Those of us working them now know the value because we are saving multiples of them.

GLWS. Always a newbie out there and there might be a good foundation on that car to start with. Might.

Actually you can drive it..." I explained to them about no known history on the last timing belt/water pump change and it would not be a good idea to drive it any distance until those were checked/replaced by an experienced 928 mechanic." It is a none interference engine and when the belt skips it just stops running......not a valve bender.

You shouldn't take it personal, our comments were all relative to the ebay listing that falsely presented the car, and little of that was "opinion". This second version of the listing is still one I would warn any potential buyer about due to the continued inaccurate presentation.

This is unfortunate since it does look like a nice starting point for 928, but I would not advise anyone to bid or make any type of offer without a full PPI.
