No more Enzo's
I thought about the idea of banning Enzoed threads, but then I realized that the result would be this forum would come to a screeching halt.
I guess just because I have been subjected to certain thread topics in the past, I shouldn't begrudge newer members from experiencing them in the present.
Let's see, maybe I could just move on to another thread if I happen onto a subject that has been covered to my satisfaction previously.

You bring up a good point though. How do we expect folks to stay away from Enzo's if they don't know what it means?
I can't imagine we could ask everyone to read every thread. I know I don't... and don't want to.
I think it's unavoidable. I believe it is much less of a plague than say, a Kibort (term coind by Speedtoys)... Or a DanglerB (pre-Ban)... or a Charley B. rant

For a while "enzo" was retired for "Favre" as new threads were started every-time Brett saw his shadow. I suppose it didn't help I stated most of them.
Other popular threads that produce similar comments to point out repost's are:
1. Barn in Portugal
2. Plane on a treadmill
As for moderating re-post threads, this is a fun topic.
On one hand you have the camp that gets really irritated when someone asks a question that has been asked before. The knee-jerk reaction is the post: "ENZO!!!!" in an attempt to show superiority over the post starter by pointing out they could have just done a search and answered their question.
I would like to see people post "ENZO" followed by links to threads answering the question or at least sending them in the general direciton.
Then you have the camp that gets irked when someone uses the search function and bumps up a thread from 2003 to continue the discussion or they might have a question about the process.
On other forums all threads over a certain age or sate of inactivity are closed to prevent them from being bumped-up. I very much dislike this practice.
If enzo threads are close together I tend to merge them together. This applied more to OT when a big news story causes a flood of threads as everyone tries to be the first person to break the story to OT.
Personally I prefer the many humorous "re-post" images used around the web, but that's just me.
Carry on...........

This issues comes in large part from the age of the forum. There are technical limitations to forums as long-term knowledge repositories. For example wiki or FAQ formats that can evolve over time are much better ways to present accumulated knowledge in an organized and easily understood format. The sheer size of an old forum like this becomes a problem with multiple threads that often wander off topic and can only be understood by reading the whole thread. Then there is the social side. Many people come to the forum to interact in near real time with others with similar interests, not simply to find a piece of information. Imagine if you could not have a conversation at a party without first searching to see if the topic has already been covered. Also, studies have clearly shown that people prefer to ask friends than rely solely on a search engine.

What is this often referred to "search" function? Sorry, I had to.
