Or how others handle the odometer thing....currently on E-bay " neat old item for cable drive speedos straight from detroit diesel allison powertrain for almost every trans driven cable speedo gm ever made. screws right into the transmission tail housing and cable screws into this adapter making your speedo and odometer read exactly half. nice for lo miler cars and trucks.very accurate. was kinda spendy when new.(listed around $160) gm figured it might need to run 100,000 miles. both ends matching u.s. anything from a powerglide to th400 and other choice gmc products. threads wont do metric. very heavy duty construction. special bearing lube. still in orig box.bid starts at $50. thanks bill "

This was VERY popular on Corvettes and a similar product for Ferrari cars ......todays computer controlled cars are more difficult.

A friend of mine had a Dodge Dakota on lease and he had a mechanic "friend" rig up a switch in the ashtray that shut off the speedo and odometer. He would get on the highway, set the cruise and shut off the odometer!

To the OP, nice car! This one was discussed extensively here and glad it has wound up in the hands of an enthusiast!

Finally someone bought it, well done!

I've rented a U-haul cube van 10 years ago and by pulling the fuse for the gauge clusture, the odometer stopped working (and so did the entire clusture) but unlike pulling the speedo connector from the transmission, it didn't effect drivabilty (with the speedo connector out, it wouldn't shift out of 2nd). Drove to Montreal and back (1200km) with less than 100km on the odo!

Skipp, welcome to the group! Great car! That one tortured me for months but I don't need another car I wouldn't drive..... I see your in Charlotte. Me too. Have you been to Cars and Coffee at Northlake Mall? Next one is the first Saturday in September. I'm sure you prolly know Jim Burton, now back at Hendrick Porsche, he is the go-to guy for 928s in the area.

The car arrived today and is at the shop being evaluated and serviced by Jim Burton.

It looks great and appears to be as described.

The Alfa Spiders have a bad rap. It's a simple little car that has caused my no problems at all......so far.

I saw the car today (had to pick up some hood/hatch struts for my friends GTS) and it is truly a magnificent looking 928! What a beauty. Congrats Skipp!!
