Well, unless we screwed up the o-ring installation, that puts you into the "other 10%". Try the seal on the cap and a new "overflow hose". Cheap and easy.

I am interested in learning more about the check valve replacement, I have several customers that have leaks that are not coming from the usual spots, IE new hoses, pump reseal, gaskets and o-rings, I have suspected that there had to be some sort of check valve, but never knew for sure until now.

What breather at the top of the trans case? And how would the fluid get all the way up there? The fluid level is barely above the pan at most. AFAIK, there are only a couple of leak sources that only leak after the car has sit for a few days: The gasket inside the reservoir cap and the overflow hose on the top of the reservoir. It is normal for the reservoir to overfill on sitting so these two items must be snug. I suppose the pan gasket could operate the same way. The TC seals would cause a constant leak at the TC grate, not a leak only after the car sits unused.

I had a leak in that same area (TC seals) on the '85 I rebuilt for my nephew. After searching the archives on here, I decided to follow Bill Ball's and some others experience from old posts and put in some Trans-X with my oil change. After about a week or two, the leak dried up. It is now dry as a bone. I usually do not use these types of products, but it was either that, pull the transmission and replace the seals, or live with the leak. I decided to try it and it worked for this car. YMMV.

Theres a pipe from the pan that had a hard plastic line of the reservoir. The coupling nut has an Oring. The pan gasket. The res. Cap seal and the res. vent hose.
The tranny is a sealed unit so it shouldn't leak after any period of time.....mine doesnt and it sits for 4 months.

Last time - I have NO ONGOING LEAKS.
The ONLY time transmission fluid escapes the transmission is when the car is parked for MORE THAN 5 DAYS.
