Central Locking Control Unit - OK or not?
My 91 S4 has Porsche-installed remote locking/alarm arming. The system has developed a fault where it will remote lock ok, but not unlock.
I've removed 2 boxes which are part of the remote and alarm system added to the original factory system (which has controller under RHS seat, 928.618.260.00). I can't find any obvious fault in the 2 modules added which add remote facility, and enhance the alarm system (includes "trembler" alarm, and 2 ultrasonic sensors at rear which work ok). I can put the remote unit on bench and trigger various signals with the remote key fob, but haven't been able to figure out exactly what signals/ground pulses it should be sending.
At this stage I don't know how the remote function is implemented - it may interrupt the lock/unlock wiring from door cylinder, or maybe from the central locking button.
I could obtain a replacement central locking controller, but I don't know for sure whether the original unit is faulty or not.
Evidence that it's fine:
- central locking both sides operates fine with central lock button on dash
- central locking both sides operates fine with key in door lock
Evidence that something may be faulty:
- the LEDs in the door posts don't light or flash when the alarm is armed (infuriatingly I can't recall if I ever saw them working prior to the noo-unlock problem!).
What do listers think? I could always buy the (used) controller, and resell if that's not the problem I suppose.

MY 1990 S4...
In my case, both key cylinders lock both doors. Even when the key is turned to the left in the hatch it locks both doors.
The problem lies with the central locking button. I just get a loud "TUCK" sound whenever it is depressed. You can hear power being sent to the door locks with the simultaneous sound of a smaller "tuck" in each door at the same tim. It is as if the doors are open and it is trying to open them again.
Not sure what to check on here. Suggestions please.
P.S. There are no two small in-line fuses to check for this in MY 1989 and up...
