San Antonio move

My wife is being PCS'ed to work in Brooke Army Medical center in a few weeks. So there will be a new shark around the area in a bit.
What's life like over in San Antonio?

I know there is a nice Drag Strip in Seguin. Not a far drive at all.

I actually really like San Antonio. Haven't been there in years, but I'm sure there is just that much more to do around there now. There is Sea World, Six Flags, and you are in decent driving distance to San Marcos and Austin. PLENTY of car scene also.

Erik I was born and raised here in San Antonio and let me tell you you will love it here in San Antonio. This is LARGE military community. There are a few 928 owners in town.

When you get down to San Antonio I would be happy to show you around. Be nice to hang around with a fellow 928'er....

The heat sucks though ....

I am thinking that I will take up kayak fishing. The Gulf looks reasonably close.

San Antonio is in Texas.

Just wanted to let you know.

ROG100 07-18-2011 06:22 PM

That's even closer to DFW and Marble Falls.
Good move

If you like racing you can drive just over an hour to Austin for the F1 race! We have a 928 GTG the second Saturday every month, take a spin and come by to meet everyone!

Randy, you do tend to come off as an flippant jerk, don't you?
You and I would get along just fine there, pardner!

And as to the DFWGTG gang, yeah I'll be there. Might not be for a few months, as I have job responsibilities still over here, but I will look you guys up. So watch your mirrors for a green 928... you hardly EVER see green ones!

Erik, you will have to change your avatar to Permanenty Texan since PCS stands for Permanent Change of Station, I think. Some of the rest of the country refers to y'all as "Texicans." I was married to one once, from Dallas. I didn't mind Texas so much, but the marriage didn't turn out too well; or then maybe it did since I got divorced from her.

Been to San Antonio many times in my military past, and some since in my otherwise aviation past. Great place. Hope it works out for you there.

Agreed, PCS is Permanent Change of Station. Just did one myself, which actually only moved me across post a bit.

I really like SA! If I didn't live in Austin I'd want to live out west of SA...

Come up to our regular 2nd Sat GTG's in Austin once you are settled in. We have several folks that come up from down that way! Love to have you here too. Love to see that beautiful car of yours. Just love that color!

Erik, Welcome to TX. My wife Tambra & I live in Rockport right on the gulf. You can kayak, or wade fish about 200 yards from our house. You and yours are welcome to stay anytime, just PM me a little in advance. Don't forget to bring your cool, green 928 ! 77Tony

Been livin in San Antonio for awhile - most of the 928 guys G2G in Austin which is only 60-70 miles north . There is alot of car stuff happening here, but most of it is muscle or classic cars. Not too much Porsche happening. ymmv though!

I would really love to catch a tarpon. I have a great, fast-action 11' graphite rod, like an oversized steelhead rod, that I used to use to pull stripers out of the Pacific surf. It would probably handle a 50+# fish in the flats. Tony, we will talk in the future fer sure!
