mine isn't stock. very easy to make big power on these.
Brembo brakes, Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, and AWD with active yaw control stock, though - pretty sure it will out-handle that tarted up Rabbit.

My .02 - Given what I have just read and watched, my perceptions have been reinforced. For 2015 the regular Golf R will have the numbers to compete with the currently superior performance of the japs at a much cheaper price tag and the R400 should make it no contest. I would take the luxury and looks of the R over the econobox's.

Wow, that video was hilarious! What a hipster fanboi! "Uhhhh... I'm getting a rash from the plastic." The VW could have an interior made from Dodo leather, but thst wont matter much once the window motor refuses to work when it starts raining.

The EVO system is arguable 'better' than the Subaru system as it incorporates AYC which is active yaw control as well as LSDs. You can't manually configure the center diff though.
The STI and EVO systems were designed for performance from the get go. The VW system is front biased and more of an after-though frankly. The VW system comes dead last from a performance aspect. Especially considering the stability control 'issue'.
The Golf R has two el-cheapo open differentials in the front and rear. The center differential isn't really a differential, its just a clutch that can lock the front and rear differentials' inputs together.
The other two have more sophisticated differentials. From what I recall, the STI has the more sophisticated center, and the Evo has a very sophisticated rear differential."

Alan, you seem to have something in common with the hipster Fanboi, you both think performance involves drifting. That was his big complaint in the video at least, the VW system wouldn't shut off to allow a constant sideways slip, no surprise that the jap systems excel at that coming from the land of drifters. Most track guys here would tell you the quickest way around a track involves little slipping.
In my reading yesterday, I did read that the EVO does transfer power between rear wheels as required but seems to be fixed when it comes to front to rear axle sharing. Whereas the VW system can go 0-100 front to rear. That may actually work better for 0-60 purposes.
My only use for such a system would be snow, and I would like to see a comparison similar to one that Autocar did between the Range Rover and the Cayenne. Never had any electrical issues with 2 rabbits decades ago and never really heard of it till now. But this all basically hot air, I don't need another mobile and the R400 would probably compete with a 4 door wrangler for that position anyways.

here is a comparison of a Subaru AWD system vs some Haldex ones.

it can send 110% power to the rear wheels, but its still a FWD-based inferior system.

my use is everyday driving (handling), as well as snow. also have a lot of hills to deal with on my commute, and while AWD doesn't help going down snowy hills, it sure helps going UP. i work until midnight, so many times when i get out of work, the roads are unplowed/unsalted. during the giant snowstorm of '10 here, my old turbo Subaru was one of the few cars on the road at midnight - had to drive around many abandoned SUV's in the street to get home. LOL
Never had any electrical issues with 2 rabbits decades ago and never really heard of it till now. But this all basically hot air, I don't need another mobile and the R400 would probably compete with a 4 door wrangler for that position anyways.

I have a hard case against VW because:
I don't like the way they look (my opinion)
I don't trust them as far as quality (based on knowledge)
The AWD is pretty crappy
Even VW guys will tell you the r32 AWD system is inferior, as I've quoted from the VW forum. I don't know what else to tell you, other than to go buy a VW if that will make you happy and get familiar with your local dealer as you'll probably be seeing them a lot for warranty work. It's still a FWD car most of the time, and that's a joke.
Those videos hardly "say it all". LOL

For anyone interested in joining the likes of Chuck Zachman, Bigs, Gary Knox (and I'm sure many other 928 owners) and myself I am selling my 2006 SL55. Mine has the rare 030 package which includes massive brakes, LSD, 186 mph limited top end, and SL65 front bumper. Mine also has 1 year left on the warranty. Not only does that offer protection it also insures that since it has been under warranty it has always gotten what it needs and usually from the dealer. I bought it with 6k miles and it now has 50k. It is all stock and no paint or body work'

I'm sure you'll like the increase in torque. I added the smaller supercharger pulley and an ECU tune to Bigs/my SL55, brings it up to about 575. By the way, responding to the title of this thread - my'next car' after the GTS departed is in the garage. It has much lower performance than the 928 provided. But this model in racing form won the European Touring Car Championship for 5 out of 6 years from 1973-1979, and this one is no slouch on the roads. It's engine has been upgraded in size, torque and HP from original 3 liter by about 25%, has fuel injection instead of carburetors, and a 5 speed overdrive trans replacing the OE 4 speed.

Saw a guy try to park a hellcat at a restaurant on day. Took him about 10 minutes because he would not touch the throttle and just let it creep along at idle.. Later asked him about it and he said he couldn't touch the throttle or it would spin the rears and he would end up hitting something in the parking lot.
