Best hatch receiver insert?
 

I've got one of the "early effort" replacement hatch inserts, and I would like to get a good one. Has anyone compared the offerings from all sources?

I'm ok with a response of they are all good now, but despite loyalty to our regular vendors I'd like the "best" insert this time around. Also noticed a seller on ebay that seems to have a lot of satisfied customers.

I've got one from Roger... does everything it says on the box...

ah... actually it came in bubble wrap... but anyway, at the moment I fail to see how another could be any better... I guess the real test is time, I've had mine in for about 6 months.

The closest to factory-looking is the one from Nicole - its white :)

I've seen all three vendors' inserts in the flesh (Jerry, Roger and Nicole).. all functionally the same, and its too early to tell which will last longest.

All the customers for the bad early ones supplied by 928sRus were offered a refund or replacement.

We have sold over 400 so far with no returns.
Just received another batch of 50.
So far so good.

I just ordered one from Roger. If it lasts six months I'll be thrilled. I've never seen my hatch work.

Fitted Rogers 9 months ago, looks just the same now.

My 2 cents...

Bought my first 928 this past Feb and one of the immediate problems was the insert was in little pieces. It seems as if the hard plastic part had dried out and just fell apart.

I was not aware there are options other than Roger and OEM so I ordered one from Roger. His appears to be a softer urethane product and was very easy to install. If the insert is urethane, I would expect it to be far superior to the OEM product.

How much are they going for?

My inserts were made to match the originals as closely as possible.

We purchased a brand new lower hatch lock, removed its original liner, and measured the elasticity of the material. A silicone mold was created.

The new hatch receiver liners are now cast with high grade resin that most closely matches the original color as well as the elasticity.

Installation is very simple: You press down the plastic piston in the hatch receiver, and pry out the old insert. While holding down the piston, the new liner is inserted and snapped into place. Because of tight fit, this might take a bit of trickery, but there is nothing more to it. It takes about 10 minutes.

I believe that's the same one as Roger sells. The seller, Peter, sells a few different 928 items - I bought one of his leather console lids (he sells RHD ones too). Fit was decent - even down to the screw holes being in the right place - just unscrewed the platic trim off the old (broken) lid, and screw the new lid on. His niftiest item I've seen is the replacement horn pad for the early 3-spoke 928 steering wheels:
