Are you saying that Ebay sent you a note that disclosed the reserve price of this auction BEFORE it ended? Never heard of that before.

First time I've seen it. I get a note on the watchlist from time to time about sellers lowering the reserve price, but this is the first time the actual number has shown up. That's a cut and paste I posted

So ebay is helping the shilling?

If the bid has passed the reserve, it doesn't really reveal anything other than the fact that it now "must" go to the highest bidder does it? And we all know that on ebay, nothing has to happen. Must is not must until it actually happens. I won a no reserve on an S4 years ago. Seller changed his mind. At least he told me before I bought the air ticket.

Maybe I'm simply stating the obvious, but I can't see the seller passing up the bid of $19,500 in hopes of getting two dollars more from another bid unless the 19,500 is his shill bid.

I remember that GT for sale in '04, what a combo. I would wonder how much track time the car saw but otherwise I like it. That interior would be great with guards red paint...

Probably not. If the reds were not a nearly exact match they would look bad together.

That car does have what appears to be many of the desirable elements:

Low mileage
Sport seats
Manual trans
I didn't check about LSD?
Nice color and unusual interior color
89GT
Wheels?

All 89 GTs have limited slip.....

This is a very rare color combo with some great options (leather interior).

This is the reason I re-painted the calipers on my 89 Black.. didn't want to risk the red being a mismatch with the guards red paint I was tempted by yellow.. but there's too many modified japanese cars locally with yellow calipers and I didn't want to look like a wannabe.

When the highest bid is less than the reserve and the seller lowers the reserve, if the new reserve price is less than the old high bid, the high bid is reduced to $1 less than the reserve. The high bidder has to bid again to win the auction.

I have no clue about the message, never heard of it before.

Anybody look at the carfax?

Mileage patterns are very odd, and registration and inspection dates make it look like more than 3 owners just recently, none of them putting more than a few miles a year on it.

It looks like he has time only for a short fishing trip this time out. I think he is chumming pretty heavily so maybe he will get a nice bite.

Good question. Listed by private owner as a three owner car. It obviously had at least one in Canada from new. Then the present owner bought it in 08 at the Barrett Jackson sale from a "collector." That would make up the three owners. However, the collector will have to be someone who bought or brought the car to Ohio in 2000, then moved to RI in 02, then moved to TX in 04, then moved to AZ later in 04, and finally moved toi CA in 06, and then sold the car to this seller in 08. That seems like an awful lot of moving around for a car collector.

If this seller owned the car in 09 or 10 when it was involved in an accident, I wonder why he forgot about it until in the previous listing it was "brought to (his) attention." In that regard, I wonder if the collision that is said to have only damaged the paint on the rear bumper cover is in fact the reason that the gaps around the rear hatch are not quite right.

Perhaps this thread will help satisfy a few questions and concerns about this car:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...this-year.html

J.P. (posts 7 and 9) and Schocki (17 and 22) are two guys whose opinions I place great confidence in. Certainly things could have happened in the time since, but the current story surrounding the car wouldn't scare me away if I were in the market. I'd make a deal (in writing) with the seller that my bid was contingent on a satisfactory PPI and go from there.

Are you referring to the hatch-to-bumper cover gap that looks wider on the driver's side than on the passenger side? That could be due to something of significance, or it could simply be a matter of the rubber stops on either side being out of adjustment. Let's not get too carried away without all the facts.

The jury instruction says that if you find that the witness is not telling the truth about anything you may disregard anything or everything that he/she says.

Carried away? No, just wondering!
