Default 86.5 FS Updated with pics and video! (SOLD)

It's been my daily driver for 6 months. I have finally gotten my Z project on the road and cannot afford to fix or even keep this one. Like I said before, I wish I would have known about this forum and had done my research before getting an old 928. From the VIN I have understood it is a 86.5 but not an S model. It comes with the full set of binders of the FSM. I have spent about 3,200 on it. Clear title, no modifications and passes inspection. I am located in San Angelo, TX. Bryan at 803-847-0032. I really need to sell and will do whatever I can to help in this sale.
PICs:
http://s410.photobucket.com/albums/p...Porsche%20928/

Here are the known issues:

Idles consistently at 1200 RPM
Auto Transmission shifts hard
Climate control blows but no hot or cold
Some bubbling in paint
Drivers window in op
I had to pull the interior light/seat fuse to prevent a parasitic draw
Speedo doesn’t read
186K + miles
Cluster display lights just went out.
Temp gauge doesn’t read
Cruise control non op
Brakes squeak
Cracked dash

Positives:
Strong 32V engine
All original
Reliable
Brand new red top battery
owners manual

2,850 is what I'm asking

That looks like it could be fixed up fairly easily. GLWS.

It is a '86.5. '83-'86.5 are all S.

474 - sport shocks
533/650 - alarm/sunroof
570/319 - rear air/small fan pulley
158/490/494 - Monterey/8 speaker sound

True. But I have a few too many debts and I finally finished my dream car. I was also bruised by a stupid purchase last Oct. That yellow one. 928s are amazing... maybe I'll find a nice one 10 years from now when I am ready and can make a more informed purchase. Thanks.

TB/WP history? How long have you had it?

6 months. The TB and WP were done two years ago. I don't know the mileage on them. It has been in San Diego for the rest of it's life. No rust at all except for the small bubbles.

While I say GLWS, I am always amazed that people put up cars for sale with pictures of filthy dirty cars. It seems like such a simple and obvious little step to simply wash a car and vacume out the inside before posting for sale pics. Dirty cars indicate the seller doesn't care much about the car one way or the other, so why should a buyer care. It also indicates a probable lack of proper maintenance.

It just sat in a West TX dust storm. I work twelves all night so it is hard to get any pics done. The color happens to be brown in and out and is not filthy. Since I have made the mistake of buying 928s I have been treated very rudely by members on this forum. I didn't expect this since I have read through the forum for over six months. I haven't done anything to the car since I am putting all my extra time and money into another.

I read where you are coming from Ed regarding "putting your best foot forward" for a sale.
Problem is, sometimes the sellers are just done with in, or on their way out of it. So their hearts just aren't in it anymore.
That doesn't necessarily mean the car was neglected for the full ownership period, but maybe only the latter portion.
Point is, be careful not to generalize to deep, because you may miss a diamond in the rough.

Good luck with the sale, priced right considering it runs and drives and it is an 86.5. Have you ever had the flexplate/endplay checked under your ownership?

Linderpat is just giving you some constructive criticism, he is a good guy!

No worries. I know I messed up with my two 928 buys. I have been driving it to work and back but haven't had time to touch it other than that. The flexplate/endplay has not been checked. It was owned by a guy named Champagne from San Diego.

It is very rare to see an 85-86 with thrust bearing issues. Paranoia runs high on this list. I apologize if you have been treated rudely. This is a great list with a lot of great people all trying to help. Some can be inexperienced and give bad advice but that is the nature of forums.

The hard shifting is easy to fix and should be addressed soon. There is a modulator value on the driver's side of the transmission - generally green in color. On the valve is a rubber cap that can be removed. Under the cap is a T handle that pulls out. Once out it can be turned right or left. Turn the T handle counter clockwise about 7 to 10 turns. Drive the car and see how it shifts. Some people think it is cut to make the car shift hard - so it feels like a hot rod - but hard shifting puts stress on the torque tube and can cause it to break. This happens and your average 928 will be a non running 928.

Good luck you seem to be asking a reasonable price - If I did not have do many and was closer I would buy iy.

I would say the idle at 1600 and hard shifting are related issues - False air in the intake caused by broken vacuum line(s). No vacuum to the transmission modulator will cause full hard shifts all the time.

That's good to know. I'll try the T handle with hope. I am sure there is a vacuum issue or intake issue.

Does anyone know someone good on the 928 that'll take money for work if I drive to Dallas or San Antonio and left it? I remember mention of someone in Dallas but can't remember the name.

Drive up to San Francisco and i will look at the car for free - but you have to buy the broken parts from me and do your own wrenching.
