Thanks everyone.

Its nice to be able to hit the key and it fires right up, well after one revaluation.
No cam sensor. Just the crank sensor.

I wish I could spend more time on it but we leave for Toronto tomorrow and will not be back till sunday after midnight.

I am sure that if I read the Tec-GT instructions I will get the fuel map close and start to understand how it works.

Thanks again.

Thanks AL, If you get the complete kit, it should not be to bad.
I did not get the power harness and built my own utilizing the stock relay system. Carl has instructions on it but it is better to have others that found issues and can walk you through them.

I am not out of the woods yet, but it starts and runs and could be driven around the block.

video coming in a few mins

So I decided to up date this thread.

The Tec-GT kit is really an Great kit, IMHO, but others that have played with more then just the electromotive tec kits may be willing to tell more.

I found the kit straight forward.
The electromotive dealer that I used was Carl. (928 Motor Sport)

Some of Carl’s instructions were missing some info, but the biggest problem is that he gave me a 3 bar MAP sensor which is for a boosted engine.
Because the ECU thought it was getting a shee load of air it was pumping in a lot of fuel and it took me a month of off and on to figure it out.

Pizzed at Carl I bought the correct 1 from electromotive and then it was way easier to tune.

The second pet peeve was that as I was starting to wire in the injectors, I realized that there was no power harness for the engine. $#&@ this meant I had to back up and open up my harness and feed a heavy enough wire to supply all the demand for the coils and injectors (hmm think I ran a 10 gauge wire and built a tree, think its 14 wires of 14 gauge)

Because it was my first time playing with a system that controls all the fuel, start up, warm up, accel enrichment, injector pulse width, base timing, start up tim....., I found that the instructions from Carl stopped at that point and that the electromotive forum was a must.
http://electromotivetec.freeforums.org/

All I did was post what I thought went where and they told me what to adjust.

I am happy that I do not have distributors as they are old school.
I am happy that I did not have to buy $600 plug wires (they come with it.)
Four 70,000 volt coils (2 twin blocks) are supplied.
I am happy that I have all new wires, terminals, and connectors from the ECU to the engine.
No MAF sensor to worry about.

The other big big plus is that I am ready to SC it or add Nitrous or any other power mod,
and I can tune it with my lap top, tune on the fly, and record.

BTW I had a computer dealer recondition an old Lap-top that had a serial port and had XP pro installed.
It seems to run great.

I do not know if it is because of the top-end refresh (shorted knock sensors) and mild porting,
and or the new ECU, But I do know that it goes like stink now.

Questions welcome here or it may be better to PM me.

Glad you have it running! Remember, when you supercharge it, you will want that 2 BAR or 3 BAR manifold pressure sensor!
Until then, I completly agree with you that the 1 BAR sensor is the way to go.

Good job Brad!

Yes you are right Carl.
and thank you for the kit.

I should mention that at first I posted on the electromotive forum that I thought it was a defective MAP. They ask what the #s on it were and then they told me it was a 3 bar and [Jon] on the fourm explained the differance.
It was at that point I asked if they could supply it and they did.
I had two reasons for doing it that way.

1) you told me to send the wrong 1 back and you would replace it (that burned me because it would be another 2 weeks)
You could have thrown it in the mail and trusted me.

2) you were preping your car for the salt and I new you were busy and I was tired of talking.

Thanks for the pat on the back.

Why couldn't you tune it with a 3 BAR MAP sensor? A boosted car is not always making boost...

You can tune it with the 3 bar and you can set it to only tune in the 1 bar range too

That's what I did with my EZF.

That way once boost is applied the "non boost" portion of the map is already figured out.

Why start over with a different sensor later?

Maybe you could share that with us on how it is done, because if that is the case then why bother building different sensors?
I was told it can be done but that it is not as efficient

Here are some answers to some questions that I have been asked.

What did the kit cost
I think the cost worked out to about $4000-$4300 Canadian due to I bought it when our dollar was low and also I did way more then just install the Tec-GT as I had the engine out and did a top end refresh, but about $4k to $4300.

Where did I purchased the kit
928motorsports
Carl has lots of info on his page which is who I bought it from.
His price was $3520 and I did not check other dealers prices or kits.
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...management.php

Was the kit complete
The kit is complete except it was missing a diode and had the wrong MAP sensor.
There were issues connecting up the fuel pump relay into the circuit so I had to pull out the schematics and figure it out my self. (could be because mine is from Japan)
There was no power harness which you have to build (12-14 wires)

How long will it take to install
In a shop I could install a kit in a customers car in around 8-10 hours would be my guess, but it may take longer.
At home it may take the average person 1-2 weeks off and on

Is the car done, tuned, and did it require a Dyno
I do not have the car fully tuned yet as it is still rich but it is just to play with the settings until you get it right.
Zero dyno time and I did everything myself.

If you feel confident that you can wire in a harness then you can install the Tec-GT.
I would have no problem walking someone through the build, and the electromotive forum is the best place to go for tuning help.

You will have to install the program onto a laptop. All new Laptops need a special connector and I have heard of issues
I asked my local PC store to bring in a reconditioned laptop that had a serial port and install XP pro ($300)

Tec-GT vs cost to recondition LH & or EZK (???)
CW/Plug wires, vs plug wires from Porsche (~$300)
CW/new coils (4 - 70,000 volt coils)
CW/new harness connectors & terminals vs buying a new one (~$1200?)
remove MAF from the system
CW/MAP sensor
